Star Wars: Battlefront disappointed many users, but what you may not know is that the PC scene for the game appears to be nearly dead.

Everyone is either waiting for the complete edition or skipped the game because they hate what was done with the game.

Relientk773745d ago

You're right that I skipped it, but I probably won't get the complete edition either

crazychris41243745d ago

I'm waiting to see if the content in the complete edition enough and if the player counts increase. Most likely will pick it up for $20-$30.

-Foxtrot3745d ago

It sold on hype and the brand name, people got burnt out after replaying the same lacklustre content over and over, they then soon snapped out of it and sold it

After they got back home, went in the shower only to either curl up into a ball or started to vigorously scrub themselves clean after being virtually raped by EA.

Hate to say I told you guys so...BUUUUUUUUT

Sciurus_vulgaris3744d ago

I played the beta and got bored fast. I know several people that bought into the hype of the game (or the movie) and stopped playing after a week. This game didn't have enough content to maintain a large player base on PC.

freshslicepizza3744d ago

that may change for the next battlefront since so many are recently into pc gaming.

FATAL1TY3744d ago

PS4 Domination

PC = hack, poor sales...

tuglu_pati3744d ago

Expected, the game is really bad

Jonin7Spartan3744d ago

If only they had sold Battlefront 3.

SniperControl3744d ago (Edited 3744d ago )

I bought it on PS4 in a attempt to get back into MP gaming, but that failed miserably, i have regretted buying it ever since.

My 6 year old lad loves it but he loves anything Star Wars at the moment, he has probably clocked easily 10X the hours i put into it.

Shinuz3744d ago

Same here, if only there was a single player campaign it would have been awesome.

ShadowKnight3744d ago

@sniper if he enjoys it that's all that matters!! :)

Immorals3745d ago

I think most people just got burned out after 8 hours of play. 13m+ copies sold, and it's player count is dropping rapidly.

Kribwalker3744d ago

I'm waiting for the EA Access version, free and there's usually a player boost then too

BellePelouse3744d ago

Could not even get to 8 lol

Blaze9293744d ago

"Star Wars: Battlefront Isn’t Really Doing Well"

fixed.

Ark_3744d ago

I don't get the disagrees. The playerbase of this game is not healthy at all on every platform. PC is the worst, but also on PS4 / X1 the playerbase is on ridiculous low numbers for a multiplayer game, that only recently released ... add the Star Wars name and the numbers look even worse.

And to be honest they deserve that lost interest. Not enough content and casual game mechanics, that even preschool kids can handle without problems. For longevity you need appropriate complexity and variety.

Btw I am still playing BF4 after 2 years and sunk more than 1000 hours into it. There are still gamemodes I didn't try, weapons I haven't played, vehicles I cannot handle and even maps I am not really familiar with. It's just a rich playground for teamplay and it doesn't get old for me.
In the end DICE is capable of delivering much better games. (BF2, BF2142, BC2 and BF4 after a year worth of patches ...)

I give them credit for graphics, sound and a polished release, though.

Fez3744d ago

I got enough enjoyment by playing about 6 hours of the beta so didn't think it was necessary to pay for the full game for more of the same.

Ozmoses3744d ago

The complete edition still won't be complete... hahaha

solar3744d ago

Because PC gamers dont buy, or if they do buy a shit game, they dont play or support it for very long. many games on the platform see the same fate.

pivotplease3744d ago (Edited 3744d ago )

This even applies to good games. If you take a quick jaunt around VGchartz (I know it's not 100% accurate) you'll see games like GTA V selling horribly. Even after considering digital sales (which all systems have in spades now), it's safe to say that the PC is often the worst selling version by a landslide. It's definitely a combination of piracy and the lack of popularity. And I don't mean that there aren't many PC gamers. I just mean they're probably playing LoL or a Blizzard game or maybe even some exclusive like Undertale so their interest can often lie elsewhere.

thisgamer5033744d ago (Edited 3744d ago )

WoW says hello. More players and longer support than any console game ever.

solar3744d ago

@thisgamer503

:( god save your soul, if you believe in that shit.

thisgamer5033742d ago

Oh i don't play it, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's more supported by gamers than any console game like you say.

Wallstreet373744d ago

I bought it on Ps4, played like four days straight and dropped it. Its not that i didnt enjoy it because i did but it just doesnt have that "keep you going back" staying power. Mind you i play BO3 regularly, Drive Club, Bloodborne, Dark Souls2 and a few others.

pivotplease3744d ago

How is DS2? Picked up Bloodborne awhile back and have been thinking about the DS2 remaster. The fromsoftware craving is strong.

Wallstreet373744d ago

Pivot....

To be honest DS2 was my least favorite out of them all but i still loved it. If your getting it on Ps4 its definitely worth it and the community is really active (then again Dark Soul and even Demon Souls are still really active on ps3 lol).

First thing i noticed when i played the PS4 version was such a big difference in graphics. I mean i felt like i was playing a different game. The upped resolution and super crisp IQ really made a difference.

If you love From Soft games, get it!!!! It will be money well spent imo.

PC Gamers generally have higher standards for games and are more than happy to stick with older better ones if necessary.. just look at COD, last I checked there was still more PC players playing COD 4 than any other one.

Pandamobile3745d ago (Edited 3745d ago )

Pretty much the same thing happened with Hardline. It's been practically dead on PC since a couple months after launch.

BF3 and 4 are still going strong though.

Hell, even Bad Company 2 is still kicking.

sullynathan3745d ago

hardline is a spin-off and came a year after BF4. Of course it was going to have less players than BF4.

pompombrum3744d ago

Battefield Vietnam was a spin-off too yet was very popular. People stuck with Battlefield 4 because it's a much better game.

sullynathan3744d ago

It didn't even sell as much as hardline nor is it played as much.

NarooN3744d ago

Yep, Bad Company 2 still has a lot of servers on PC.

Hardline is almost dead because it sucked, plain and simple. As aiBreeze pointed out, Vietnam (the original one) was a spin-off and was really popular for a long time because it was actually good.

PC gamers in general simply have higher standards than console-only guys, especially a large percentage of the present-day gamers who only recently got into shooters and thus don't really know what makes a legitimately good shooter lol.

Wallstreet373744d ago (Edited 3744d ago )

Higher standard for games? lol hahahah PC elitist much? Its not that PC gamers have higher standards, its that consoles have more casuals but still a good junk of hardcore gamers with standards. Maybe you stick around more on older PC games games because console gamers have less shovel ware and other exclusives to play and we cant stay stuck on one game.

FYI .....console still have games 5 or more years old that still have active playlists and communities because we rather play them then other bs games. Looking at Ps4 versus Pc stats Bf4 actually has more online players in a 24hr period then PC 34,000 as opposed to 24,000

Demon Souls still crazy active
Dark Souls 1
Killzone 2 still has games going on
All COD and some ppl stopped playing MW2 because of pc like cheats implemented in it
Bf4 still very popular on console

2pacalypsenow3744d ago

I can agree to this last night I played about 10 games of COD 4 on My 360 and it had full lobbies.

towelie12883745d ago

yea i can confirm this my buddy plays on PC and he says its hard sometimes to find a full game . pretty much a half dead game.
i have the game on PS4 and i play maybe 3-4 games and i am pretty much done.
game gets really old real fast.

wtopez3745d ago

Meh. Bought it on PC. May have played an hour. It's just not a good game.

badz1493744d ago

And now you're stuck with it!

wtopez3744d ago

Origin has a refund option. I just didn't bother with it. It might be good someday, hopefully.

badz1493744d ago

with the number of players dropping like it is, I doubt EA will even bother!

don't you have a console? why did you even buy it for PC if you were not sure? there were lots of articles about how barebone the game will be before it launched! at least you can trade it in for something else if you buy on console. I primarily game on console for that reason. I only buy games I really REALLY wanna keep on PC because I know I can't sell it back or...if they are really REALLY cheap from Steam, or Humble Bundle.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio19d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing19d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9219d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit19d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing19d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9219d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
