Could VR's future be outside gaming?

Pause Resume look at potential uses for VR outside of video games:

"It seems like a long-time ago that Oculus first launched it’s Kickstarter for the Rift, but after months of waiting we’re finally about to see virtual reality hit store shelves.

But what if virtual reality is actually a commodity that is far more important outside of video games? What if its impressive technology is utilised in a way that makes experiences available for people where it wasn’t before?"

That's exactly where it will thrive. It's going to bomb in the gaming sector.

Far from that, but there is simply gonna be a rich variation of fields where it's gonna be successful. Seriously, you all black & white people make me sick! Why does everything always have to be one or the other?!

VR on all platforms is going to succeed, for every person who has tried VR, i have heard nothing but good comments and a wish to buy VR in the future.
I've had the DK2 for well over a year now and it's definitely changed the way i game, i can never play sim racers on a boring 2d screen again, dog fighting in Elite Dangerous is a massive game changer, being hunting by a Xenomorph in Alien: Isolation is just 5h1t scary. I tried Mirrors Edge in VR last year using VorpX, the sense of height and movement actually induced Vertigo in me, name any game that can do that on a standard 2d screen.

Most of the negative comments are coming from people who have never even tried proper VR, i'am talking about PSVR, Oculus and Vive and not the cheap rubbish like the Google cardboard or mobile stuff.
PSVR seems to get alot of hate on here, lol, we all know why that happens right. :p

Holy crap never thought about VR dogfighting... I love dogfighting.. that sounds amazing! Solves the problem of seeing behind you while you maneuver a lot better than a little HAT stick. I bet simulators are pretty cool too. Have you tried one? I have the sudden urge to practice takeoff and landings from an aircraft carrier in an f14. VR cannot get here soon enough.
