Xbox One backward compatibility: every major game tested

Digital Foundry:
Since our first tests in July, it's clear that Xbox One backward compatibility has come a long way. Many of the issues we noted in our original tests have been cleared up - with improved performance to several titles a welcome result of the feature's extended beta period. It's nice to see the list of games growing and we can only hope that the few titles which do exhibit issues can be cleaned up further.

all we need now is an xbox 360 store on xbox one where we can get all the digital 360 games at low prices I'm thinking about £5 each.

Jmanzare3770d ago

Yea it would be nice until then use the xbox store website

KimikoGaming3770d ago

Sweet. All the major games are tested. Awesome. That means now we can start including compatibility for games that, for the most part, haven't already gotten remasters or aren't just yearly rehashed shooters that nobody plays the old versions anymore.

But why isn't Fable Anniversary included in the BC?

Can't wait for BC to include Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and other not as well-known exclusives.

green3770d ago

I think i read somewhere that Microsoft were trying to sort out backwards compatibility for multi disk games. Once they figure it out, i am sure Lost Odyssey would be added.

Jmanzare3770d ago

The witcher 2 is multi disk

Paytaa3770d ago

Still hoping they allow OG Xbox BC at some point.

NeoGamer2323770d ago

Its inevitable that some games have performance issues right now. MS should be able to improve the VM and get 100% BC working!

Hope they get games like Dead Space, the older Battlefields, and Red Dead on the BC list soon!

Gazondaily3770d ago

Someone constantly nattered on about Gears not being playable or being a mess but apart from Judgement, which is the crappest out of em all anyway, the games seem to run fine according to DF?

"But the bottom line is that for the most part, Microsoft has got it right here, and being able to centralise two generations of Xbox titles into one box is a highly compelling proposition."

Well that's good. Now we just need Dead Space 2 on the list!

Would be nice if they had New Vegas ready as well, especially because of the show.

Hopefully this doesn't have the same performance issues as Oblivion Remastered.

cloganart129d ago

I haven't seen anything on these performance issues? What's been going on?

walken7128d ago

Probably the Unreal Engine issues, I skipped it for that reason.

Snookies12129d ago (Edited 129d ago )

Throw in all the DLC as well, like Oblivion and I'll definitely bite. I recall having one trophy left to unlock on the PS3 version with 100+ hours in my save. When my save file got corrupted, lol. Very sad day.

To be fair though, Bethesda was trash at Playstation ports anyway.

Michiel1989129d ago

all devs sucked at porting to ps3 for the first like 3 years because no one had experience with the cell architecture. Even 1st party took a long while to get proficient with it, the difference between uncharted 1 and 3 is massive for example.

Extermin8or3_129d ago

Oh oh oh I can do this too. GTA 7 will be made at some point in the future. Fallout 5 will enter development in the future too

jznrpg129d ago

Everyone there should know most gamers want New Vegas and Morrowind more than anything.

Christopher129d ago

Which is why we won't get them. Gotta keep floating "support this one and it might happen".

BlaqMagiq1129d ago

Can't wait. Won't have to go back to my PS3 to play this when it comes out.

Mass Effect - N7 DAY 2025

Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno191d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos191d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

jznrpg191d ago

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb191d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Rebel_Scum191d ago

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Fallout 3 remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2 is what we deserve, not the worst Fallout game

Fallout Day's disappointing news that Fallout 4 is coming to Switch 2 is a shame, as this 17-year-old entry is more deserving of a new port.

Why exactly do you think you deserve it??

Phoenix76201d ago

Fallout 4 isn't the worst game in the franchise. It's either Fallout 76 or Fallout BOS that's the worst.

gigoran8201d ago

PC and all other modern consoles never got a remaster of 3, but obviously the switch 2 was the tipping point to make it a reality... ahuh

1nsomniac201d ago

Meh, I thought 3 was garbage. I'm not a great fan of the franchise to be fair. They're like B-Movie films, really shallow and janky. 4 was definitely one of the better ones though.

UltimateOwnage200d ago

So the article makes a snippy entitled statement and acts like that is going to encourage a publisher to give them what they want. Okay.
