IGN: Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster Review

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster has the look and feel of a modern game, but its real problems started in 2002 and were never solved. It’s a forgettable entry in an outstanding series that just doesn’t measure up because of its story problems, overwhelming inventory management, and horrible predictability. Reanimating this limp corpse of a survival game in high definition only brings back the disappointment I felt when I played it the first time.

I don't think the reviewer gets what a RE game is lol

He doesn't know sh&* about Resident Evil. I think the game looks great and I am a huge fan of the series, always have been except for RE6 which was a huge let down.

I think they just had the wrong person review this game, "Reanimating this limp corpse of a survival game in high definition only brings back the disappointment I felt when I PLAYED IT THE FIRST TIME."

I'm a huge fan of fixed camera Resident Evil. Somehow, I overlooked Zero's original release (I had a Gamecube, but must've missed this games marketing campaign). I pre-ordered this game and have it downloaded. I plan to play it really soon (within the next few days). I have to say, even with this game reviewing at 6.5, I dont view that as a bad thing. Old school Resident Evil games are awesome, but I totally agree with the idea that the tank controls, wonky aiming and fixed cameras have not aged well at all.

I understand a 6.5 from a mechanics stand point. But, fans of classic Resident Evil would never attack the score over these classic (aged) game mechanics.

Looking Back to 2016 with the Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster - Origins of Evil

Darren writes: "I view Resident Evil Zero and the 2016 Remaster as a bit of an oddity in the series, the black sheep if you will. It tried something a bit different, and in the end did so with limited success."

everything about the game is great except for the inventory system. You literally spend half the game managing your inventory. And You have to leave your stuff like on the floor and remember where you put it. It's nothing like the inventory in any other resident Evil game It's cumbersome and highly annoying.
If you can get past that it's a cool game with gorgeous graphics

yeah, the inventory system just destroys the game's flow. Especially on the first playthrough where you don't know what you're going to need to keep close by in any given area.

It's all trial and error but pushed to the limit. That's literally the only thing that holds the game back. But damn it is beautiful.
