As we all know, Nintendo will be showcasing the new system sometime this year and they need to get this one right. Although we truly LOVE the Wii U (it’s an incredible system), commercially it has been a MAJOR flop for the company. It’s no secret and it looks as though Nintendo is set to change gears and focus on their upcoming project, NX. They could pretend that they will “continue to support” the Wii U, but we all know the system (and possibly the 3DS) is on life support. Hype has been building for Nintendo’s upcoming system and I have decided to share exactly how I would roll things out this year for the project.
So, sit back, relax and enjoy our little story."

Cole Young almost made the jump from movie newcomer to game canon in Mortal Kombat 1, but a last-minute time crunch shut it down.

A rare first-party Nintendo games sale has just gone live on Amazon with around a dozen of the company's titles discounted.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.
Sounds like a decent plan haha :)
If they did it like that sales would be phenomenal
Hype is important.....but we have no idea what NX is or when it is coming so it is kinda pointless to plan a launch with no known facts.
It's a decent plan and it is fun to play the what if game though.
That....didn't leave me very excited, to be honest.
I mean, Nintendo "marched third parties up", in a manner of speaking, just before the Wii U launched.
We all know how long that support lasted, and how "good" the last gen ports were.
If you're going to do any "marching" with third parties, you'd better have them announcing a huge boat-load of exclusives, because ports won't sell the NX.
All the multiplat lovers would just snub it as another Mario machine and continue getting the multis on systems they already own, if the only thing third parties brought to the launch was multiplats.
The games list also left me feeling suspicious that you wouldn't design the system with any sort of BC, which is a HUGE turn-off.
I mean, Splatoon 2?
The first game just barely got done with all of its weapon DLC.
And Smash NX would just be a repackaged all-DLC-version of Smash for Wii U?
That sounds like what Sony did with The Last of Us: repackaging the game long before it was even due for any sort of re-release, because they wanted to re-sell it on a system that >purposefully< lacked native BC.
Hype is important, but it can't replace a solid battle plan.
Repackaging last-gen games in lieu of proper native BC, and making multiplats [which always sell better outside of Nintendo systems] the focus of third party support, instead of exciting new exclusives that people can't live without, is not how I would want to see the NX launch.
To be fair, though, the idea of launching a discount for Wii U and New3DS would be a good idea, but I don't know how you could possibly think they'd be able to get the system to launch at the end of 2016 with anything approaching a reasonable line-up of games.
ESPECIALLY if you were planning to host a Direct every month on top of that, which costs both money and time that could be used towards securing new games for a much-more-filled-out 2017 launch.
