Im not trying to say this video is fake but,

I too can record a session of me jumping in the menus, starting a game, jumping about in the menus, possibly play it a little. I could then playback this video on the PS3 and press the PS button to "show" I was playing a diskless title like Warhawk with a Motorsport BD in the tray.

I could then record that video playing with me pressing PS button and put it on the web as a hack.

Im not one for wanting the PS3 to be hacked for gaming, I would prefer focus on running homebrew to have a media center.

But if its true, respect to those guys for working out a technical challenge.

Given the huge number of previous fakes and false promises , from many groups - all accompanied by poor quality faked video's, and given this guys previous as a faker, I'd say theres almost zero chance of this being legit.

ps3 state if u are caught u will have to move house to get back online with the ps3 and change broadband and buy a new ps3
its a big risk really and most games will request a update to fit the security setting on updated ps3s

I had my ps2 hack and I didn't have to pay for games but next gen games this day will take like 15gig off ur harddrive. There is little saveing for hacking. I think it's stupid messing around with a $400 high tech system.

How do you think Sony is picking people for the new open PlayStation Home beta (to hackers)? So in other words you can't go online with it or if you do your whole system will be shut down. So you buy two where you have pirated games and another for online gaming.

I don't see a point to this especially with a game like Warhawk where it's multiplayer only. You can play online/off-line with no campaign so chances of you going online is high. Sony isn't that stupid this time around you're better off with the Microsoft console than the Sony's. Remember now the PlayStation 2 was easy to hack with no unified names for online. Now Sony watches you with their new online system not so easy anymore.

I find that ironic the PlayStation Network is free but harder to hack compared to a paid service (XBOX Live).

Just get a 360 for pirating games seen as its so simple to do and have a ps3 for games you want to buy like exclusives or online games just incase your 360 gets banned from live. ; )

It would have been nice if Sony included some option to backup disks (where you have to have a valid key and register it with PSN or something so no one else could use it) and I think that would greatly prevent this sort of thing. I guess they could still do it with future firmware updates...

It's still would cost more money, seeing as to how you would have to buy a larger hard drive.Only way you would need to dump a game to your hard drive is to cut loading times. But yeah i wont do this. I actually take a sense of pride in purchasing a game. Also i'm pretty sure Sony already has caught wind to this and the next update will prevent this from happening. But it wont show up in the change-log.

What ever you eject a disk on the PS3 it always reverts back to the XMB.

Also playing warhawk this game only works on a PS3 that it was bought on if you buy it from the PSN, I'm not sure what the deal is with the disk version.

Well you have to wonder the sales of 100 million plus for ps2 has to do something with having 2$ games.

- I see a normal browsing through Warhawk menu and the menu is not in English
- Then I see the option of quitting 'Warhawk' and the option to launch the game of 'MotorStorm'
- Then he ejects the 'MotorStorm' BD..
- Finally he browses through the content of his games proving that he doesn't have 'Warhawk' installed in his HDD..

that's right, Sony are dreaming about this, if the PS3 get hacked the hardware selling will be huge, like the PSP, they now it, or why do you guys think sony doesn't do sh** about PSP firmwares that get hacked a week after ther launch?.

that the ps2 and ps1 chips that hacked the console were made by so ny themselves. helps to sell consoles :P although since blueray is still in its infancy it makes it impractical to hack the ps3.

This is how you prove you are the best hacker if you can hack into a PS3 which is pretty much damn near impossible then your a great hacker.
I mean the 360 you can hack anything whether games or not.
PS3 they are very secure about their games, content, and products.
PSP however is heaven for a hacker cuz you can pirate games w/ just porting them from a DVD to a UMD or downloading it w/ a PS3 you can't do that.
Finally someone has finally been able to crack the code and get inside the PS3 after 2 years of hackers failing.
I bet people on the 360 figured out how to hack that console in like a week.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
