If Randy Mosiondz is nervous about DC Universe Online breathing down the neck of Cryptic Studios' Champions Online, he sure doesn't show it. He seems almost chipper on the 2008 GenCon show floor as he tries to find an open kiosk so GameSpy can play the game. It's tough. The Cryptic booth has been mobbed from the moment the dealer's room opens up until it closes at night, and Mosiondz has been fielding questions from RPG fans for hours. He finally snags an open station and breathes a sigh of relief that he didn't have to pull rank on a potential customer. The booth is too crowded: In the context of an RPG-centric show like GenCon, this is a good problem to have.
Spiffy:
Interesting mana system; meat art style; lots of character customization.
Iffy:
Classless RPG systems are notoriously hard to balance.

Cryptic Studios announced with a press release that more of its veteran developers have returned to the studio following tenures elsewhere.

The MMO studio says it’s “unifying legacy expertise with fresh perspectives”

Cryptic Studios appears to be the latest Embracer-owned company to be impacted by layoffs.
i have high hopes for this one. i really hope Cryptic balances PvP a lot better than CoH and CoV. spine/regen scrappers, ice/nrg blasters, the stalkers, all very annoying and all too over populated in PvP. i will definitely be checking this one out when it hits.
EDIT: you forgot to mention this is also coming to 360.
