I wonder if they will add microtransactions like Assassins Creed Syndicate.

I am not feeling this game at all. The melee looks really bad and they have the same type of objectives like FC3/FC4 with nothing new shown.

Alexious3788d ago

I certainly hope there won't be any microtransactions. I'm hopeful for the rest of the game, though, especially for the interaction with beasts.

Kalebninja3788d ago

whats wrong with them? they literally dont affect your game. They just add the option to buy money and such if you dont want to spend time getting it yourself.

ifistbrowni3788d ago (Edited 3788d ago )

@kale, which does affect the game. Ubisoft proved it with Rainbow Six that they can't be trusted with Microtransactions.

Most of the camos have to be bought with Rainbow credits, which you can't earn in-game unless you buy them with real money. The in game currency that you can earn "renown" is around 140 for a loss, 250 for a win. To unlock all characters (every character is locked) in a faction, its 5,000 renown. Theres probably about 6 factions, totaling 30,000. This doesn't even begin to calculate weapon attachments for each character (silencer 250, site 150-200, grip 75, laser site 200) which are unlocked individually for each character.

Now, to my point.... Ubisoft sells boost packs for Rainbow credits. With these boost packs, you earn about 400 for a win, 220 for a loss.

Why does that effect your game? Well, simple... Either

A. Ubisoft nerfs renown gains for every one to make them feel like they should buy a boost pack.

B. Ubisoft think renown gains are completely fair, but give the impatient an option to make their grind 50% shorter than everyone else. Now, players who play less time, have the same operators and weapons as you. Players who play the same amount as you, have more operators and weapons than you.

Microtransactions in a $60 retail game should be illegal. Unless they're releasing substantial content (DLC) they should not be allowed to charge for stupid things. I'd rather them not create the content at all, then to create the content and charge $5+ for a weapon camo. It's ridiculous.

TimelessDbz3788d ago

Micro-transactions on a single player game does not affect YOU. It's a time saver pack. As for for the guy talking about rainbow six. It keeps players logging in and something to look forward too. Just because (YOU) earn in game currency slow does not equate too micro-transactions. It MIGHT have something to do with it but that is a big assumption.

Exoil3788d ago

@ifistbrowni: Do you feel not having those camos gives you a disadvantage against another player? Do you feel you must have them? Then too bad, you'll have to pay up.

What would you rather have them do? Give you all the operators when you first start the game? Do you mean they should do it like the other big franchises, Battlefield and Cod? Making you play the game to unlock everything..

If you really have the feeling that you must have everything and that you must have it first, then I'm sorry, you'll have to pay up. Otherwise you could do it like the rest of us is doing, å playing the game, having fun and eventually having everything we want.

Oh, and since you didn't know there's 5 factions I doubt you own the game, too bad, it's quite fun.
But I could only imagine what you would say when you noticed you couldn't play ranked online until rank 20.

Palitera3788d ago (Edited 3788d ago )

What ifistbrowni is pretty much the proof that microtransactions do affect anyone, including who doesn't buy them and on SP games.

Why?

Because everytime ingame currency is sold through microtransactions, the ingame prices are inflated. Come on, it is not that hard to understand.

They wouldn't ever put something to sell that was disconnected with the experience. The only way to sell something is if there's a need for it.

ifistbrowni3787d ago

@exoil, sorry that I was posting off the top of my head. to answer your question about whether I own the game or not...

http://psnprofiles.com/omar...

That's a pretty sad attempt to make me look stupid.

I listed 2 reasons why it effects the game. The first was a consipiracy, the 2nd is the truth. I would not like to have everything unlocked, but how about having the price of attachments for weapons being lower or gain a bit more renown per game? I played with a 3 day boost that I used my 600 credits with my season pass purchase (got the game and season pass for about $60 during holiday sale on PSN) and it's sad how low your gains are without it.

Not complaining too much, since I enjoy the game. I'm just pointing out that microtransactions definitely DO effect game play. You're pretty much saying, don't like it, ignore it. Well, that takes effort to ignore when the game advertises it constantly on it's main page and in game if people have the boost it has the +50% next to their name. Me having to ignore it is another example of how microtransactions effect the game, lol. SO, you're pretty much wrong on all levels. Nice try, though.

Exoil3787d ago (Edited 3787d ago )

@ifistbrowni & palitera: Ok guys, you feel entitled to have access to all content faster, I understand. But how much faster do you want it? Are you fine with playing the game to unlock stuff or do you want everything at once? Where's the sense of accomplishment in that?
In all seriousness, after two three weeks you should have been able to unlock most of the stuff you want, I don't really think that is unreasonable.
But then again, I'm not used to have everything I want the second I want it, I'm not from that generation. Maybe that makes it easier for me to deal with it.

Hell, I've been playing Bf4 on and off since release and I still haven't unlocked everything.

And regarding the MT, it's not going away, so yeah, learn to deal with it or continue being sour about it, it's your choice. And really, it's not that hard to ignore seeing the other team getting a renown boost or there occasionally being a link to the store to buy a Booster or weapon camos.
If you think it's too hard, I'm sorry.

ifistbrowni3787d ago

@exoil, you're doing a stellar job spamming disagree and ignoring the contents of my post.

You're doing everything but explaining how it DOES NOT effect the game.

Simply saying "ignore it" is saying that it does effect the game. If NOTHING else, I'm now ignoring something that should not be there, which effects the game.

You still haven't explained why $5 should allow you to play the game less and have more items unlocked.

TimelessDbz3787d ago

Can't believe some people posting are upset that people are buying in game currency. They get the same amount if not more enjoyment of the game . Don't try to force a way of playing something because you can not have it .

Exoil3787d ago

@ifistbrowni: Perhaps it affects your experience with the game seeing how you can't handle anyone unlocking things faster than you. People who play more than you unlock stuff faster than you, is that also affecting your game?

I'm sorry, but I really can't see what's so difficult about playing the game without envying people who choose to pay some cash to get a weapon camo or more renown than you. It's not like it's in your face all the time, on every screen, everywhere?

Because that's what the devs want and because there's obviously players who are willing to pay for the content they offer. Simple as that. Like it or not.

Man, you're going to have a stroke when you see the prices of the new operators. conning soon.

ifistbrowni3787d ago

@exoil, you definitely do not read my posts, so im done talking to you.

I stated a few times how it doesn't upset me, but it does EFFECT the game. That's the point. It effects the game PERIOD.

I also stated I have the season pass, so how in the world would operator prices give me a stroke?

Learn to read a post before replying. If you do read the post, learn reading comprehension. If you are versed in reading comprehension, then think before you post.

Exoil3786d ago (Edited 3786d ago )

@ifist: Is someone getting a bit salty because they're getting called out on their whining?

Say they wouldn't have had any MTs in the game, do you really think anything would have been cheaper? Ad it is now, without Season Pass or boosters it took me two weeks to unlock all operators and all the essential attachments.
Do you really think it would have taken me a couple of days or a week without MTs in the game?

Had there not been MTs everything would have been exactly the same, so I repeat, learn to live with it, or atleast buy some cheese to go with your whine.

I have no desire for this game. Ark survival looks better and its available to play now. With co-op if i remember correctly

DarkOcelet3788d ago

Its not the co-op that i am annoyed about.

Its the gameplay, been there done that. Nothing new.
And the melee was never Far Cry's Strongest suit.

If i want to tame animals and all that, i would rather just wait for WILD.

Imp0ssibl33788d ago

ARK is a very different game, I wouldn't really compare them. There are no dinosaurs in Primal if you were thinking of that, since they were already extinct

TheCommentator3788d ago

Imp0ssibl3, not if you believe in Creationism they're not! It's the ultimate Hand of God face-palm...

Khaotic3788d ago

Ah i thought there might be dinosuars in primal. Too bad if not. Its the first far cry that i will probably pass on. Kudos for ubi trying something different so i hope it does well

Far Cry hasn't been the same since 3. I played 3 and was in utter amazement. I told all my friends to get it, and they seemed to enjoy it too.

Playing Far Cry 4 was just like playing a prettier Far Cry 2. I'm not at all interested in Far Cry Primal. Sure, they're changing it up, but I think they're getting rid of all the things that made Far Cry kinda fun.

Though, admittedly, if they announced another Far Cry in the form of 3 or 4, I would definitely not buy it. I'll exaggerate a little, but Far Cry 4 bored me to tears. The Valley of the Yeti DLC was just as awful.

As for the no co-op, I never played co-op in 4. I thought Key to Kyrat was an awesome feature and wished all games carried it (give you friend a key, they get access to co-op without owning the game). I didn't use any of my keys, though. I did play the multiplayer, it was trash.

ifistbrowni3788d ago

I thought Far Cry 1 and 2 were atrocious.

Bummer I thought it would be fun to hunt with others

matgrowcott3788d ago

It's never good when features don't make it, but at least the concept is fairly original. Still worth keeping an eye on, I think.

RedSoakedSponge3788d ago

im personally glad. i prefer it stayed a single player experience.

Zero1093788d ago

But all Far Cry's have been SP. The co-op was optional in 3&4. Why is "optional" co-op a problem for SP players?

Exoil3787d ago

Because if he don't want it them no one else should want or have it ofcourse.

RedSoakedSponge3787d ago

because normally it adds some stupid trophies/achievements into the game which force co-op play, and for someone like me who is a trophy hunter, its a huge pain in the arse.

RedSoakedSponge3787d ago

oh thanks man! your comment was oh so helpful /s

scottieleverne3788d ago (Edited 3788d ago )

Co-op was the tipping reason I purchased Farcry 4. After seeing the underwhelming footage for Primal and pairing it with this news, I'm pretty skeptical about this now. That sucks. It sounded like an awesome idea.

This is Ubisoft, not CD Project Red...
