The 3DS community is on a roll and I’m loving the momentum people. First the 3DS receives a port of Linux and now enter Windows 95. Shutterbug2000 has successfully ported Windows 95 on the New 3DS.

WOW. Said the 4 guys who still care about Windows 95.

Philface3800d ago

You don't see the point here, do you?

ThatArtGuy3800d ago

TIE Fighter on the 3DS!!!

Dan_scruggs3800d ago

I sure do. One time I put a potato in a shoe. Maybe if it took pictures and posted it online it would have made headlines.

Or I could note that everyone complained about the low resolution and weak computing power of the 3DS compared to Sony's handhelds yet everyone creams their pants when someone is able to hack it. All this means is that maybe one day there will some homebrew worth looking into but will be completely forgotten about and a week or so except for a very very small hardcore base of people that think this is a world altering event.

There are airport radio towers still running off of Win 95. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Dan_scruggs3800d ago

So.. Is that supposed to comfort me. Would you buy a car that was built in 95? Probably not unless you are aiming for hipster vintage.

Codewow3800d ago

@Dan 3 years ago I bought a car that was built in 94' and had 16,000 miles on it. :D

Hotabang3799d ago

@Dan_scruggs I would buy a car that was made in the 80's or even before (try coming up with better analogies)

Why the hell wouldn't you buy a car in 95? Maybe because that's what you can afford right now? Maybe it gets good gas mileage? Hipster vintage? Do you think cars were invented in the 90s?

Father__Merrin3800d ago

i dont see how 3ds is on a roll? its disfunct almost. porting win95 to it is pointless

DragonDDark3800d ago

Lol at the guys above.
How is this not impressive?

It is & it really is not that big of being usefull impressive.
Its impressive that was able to even boot DOSBox on the 3DS into windows 95 boot, its not impressive putting such into the 3DS's ARM 11 CPU

The main problem is the practical terms is its performance is going to suffer big hits due to ARM 11's limited resources that are available for the 3DS SOC.

Its still.is very impressive getting to that point though. But for being practical, not really.

Microsoft should make a windows OS distro for ARM chips like they do for X86 CPU's that consumer's could load in option of Android or Linux for Mini HPC box' systems like Android does or like Microsoft used to do with WindowsCE.

I would think it would be sought after option in additional option over surface or Android box streamers or mini-itx ARM powered PC's

Nintendo won't support 3ds anymore so the people will i guess

Summons753800d ago

Yeah...let's completely ignore the huge line up of games that are releasing both 1st and 3rd party this year. No support what so ever...

One-Shot3800d ago (Edited 3800d ago )

Guess you have a different definition of huge.

Good. I don't have to make list myself.

Ferrethat223800d ago

PSVITA has a list twice as long

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3799d ago (Edited 3799d ago )

@Ferrethat22
The list above is localize games.

That Vita list you are talking must have 80% games not localized.

Then again. Quantity isn't much. Especially when all those games is helping the Vita get into people hands.

Videogame DeLorean: Robot City

Pixelitis.net writer Patrick Kulikowski reminisces upon an obscure PC point-and-click adventure game entitled Robot City.

Developed by long-defunct Brooklyn Multimedia and published by Byron Preiss Multimedia for the PC, Robot City is based on a series of novels that were influenced by Isaac Asimov’s Robot works.

In Robot City, you take on the role of a man who crash-lands via escape pod onto a city inhabited and maintained only by robots. You have no recollection of anything, but for now every robotic denizen of the city calls you by the name on your jumpsuit: “Derec.”

Reminds me a bit of Snatcher. Snatcher was fantastic. Why can't Mr Kojima make another Snatcher!
