Why Too Human is Better Than You Think

Although Too Human's development has been haunted by a disappointing E3 '05 debut, technical problems with the Unreal engine, and some incredibly harsh critiques from the gaming community,The Exploding Barrel is here to tell you why the latest Silicon Knights game is well worth your time and money. It's the feel-good article of the Summer!

When you take forever to get your game out, of course it's gonna suck.
Just look at DNF.

Xi6498d ago

Legend of zelda, OOT
MGS 4
Killzone 2
ff13
versus 13

I assume you think all those games suck too, since they were marred by delays?

callahan096498d ago

None of those games were announced nearly as far before their release as Too Human. Just saying. 10 years since a first announcement is a pretty long time.

ukilnme6498d ago

@ callahan09

Don't know why I'm defending this game. Sure it was announced 10 years ago but how long has it been in development for the 360? I bet it's not 10 years.

callahan096498d ago

Who the hell cares. The point is, comparing this game to MGS4, or Ocarina of Time, or whatever else it's been compared to as far as development time goes just doesn't make any sense to me. Even if it had the exact same amount of development time, it still makes no sense. There's no point in the comparison. Development time makes no difference at all. I've played games that took 8 years to make, and they sucked. I've played games that took 8 months to make, and loved it. Whatever. I haven't played Too Human yet, but I liked Blood Omen, I liked Eternal Darkness, and so I'll try out Too Human and see if it stands up to their past work.

muddygamesite6497d ago

None of those games you listed have gone through a 10-11 year dev period.

Pain6497d ago

The problem is the game, not the fans as Denis tried to blame, not because people are unwilling to adapt to new gaming, the problem is the game. Period.

KBDuB6498d ago

And, what is the problem with the game..?

KeiulZen6498d ago

The bad animation, the whole clunky feel of the interface, controls, and graphics. I was once excited about Too Human til I played the demo...after that it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

The game just has too many issues that should've been worked out before they even released a demo... I'm disappointed in it, I just hope Dyack and SK learn from it and improve the 2nd game if they're allowed to do so.

Fishy Fingers6498d ago

Obviously The Exploding Barrel lack any photoshop skills. That images looks like it was made in MS paint.

Fortunately the article is a little better.

dachiefsman6498d ago

don't be haten, I use ms paint alot. LOL.

I don't get this "give it a bit of patience and you'll find out how good it is", most average games would turn out great if given "patience", I fell in love with FFVI(FFIII on the SNES) five minute after playing it, and it was my first RPG, the same goes with Command and Conquer, ICO and Monkey Island, if it's a good you wouldn't need patience to enjoy it.

On the other hand, I managed to enjoy some really crappy games just because I had nothing else to play and forced my self to play them, ex: Batman Vengeance, DMC 2, MK Armageddon, Sonic Heroes...

At worst, one would need to play a full level to have a clear view of how the game going to be, not a perfect one, but enough to know if it's a good, bad or excellent game.

Rock Bottom6498d ago

How can that news get deleted and the one with Greek Mag not, even though the score wasn't visible in the pictures?

Also Game informer always give high scores(crappy Lair got 7, I think), 6.75 is a surprise(but not for every one).

Some great games require a bit of patience, don't kid yourself. Morrowind, KOTOR, Witcher or any game of this style would be great examples.

Bubble Buddy6498d ago

I'll rent it first, and see if it's a good enough game for a buy.

Sorry man... I used painter lol. I still think it's funny, even if it's ghetto.

Lumbo6498d ago

Erm, how does anyone know how good i think TooHuman is?
And how can someone tell me its better then i think it is without knowing that?

I'll make my own decision after its released on the PC

ukilnme6498d ago

Since there is no convincing you otherwise, how about you just stay out of the 360 news until it is released on the PC. I am sure those that are looking forward to this game would appreciate it. I would too.

Lumbo6498d ago

lol, comming from someone who just posted negative remarks in the PS3 section thats kinda ironic ...

Hmm, double checked my post, tripple checked, still nothing in it thats remotely negative about TooHuman, not even a hint that i do not look forward to it, depending if it releases on a system i own, aka PC. So your usual rampart Fanboy defense post seems to be wasted .. again

morganfell6498d ago

Lumbo, bubbles for the truth.

ukilnme6498d ago

Just checked my PS3 post. I don't see what is so negative about it. Many will agree, I only spoke the truth there as I did here. Can I get a bubble for that morganfell?

kevnb6498d ago

Silicon Knights just doesn't make pc games.

kingnick6498d ago

Silicon Knights aren't exactly fans of the PC, look at all the issues they had just trying to get Too Human out for a console.

The action-RPG by now-defunct Silicon Knights is now free for Xbox gamers! Check out the Too Human free direct download link with armor sets here.

RazzerRedux2168d ago

Fun fact: I'm one of five people to have completed Too Human and actually liked it. It should be noted that the other four ended up in mental institutions....sadly.

excaliburps2168d ago

I completed it and kinda liked it. Controls were iffy but overall, I dug it. Shame Dyack was crazy. xD

IanTH2167d ago

Glad to hear it! So, when did you get out of the institution?

Marquinho2166d ago

Too Human was "The Order: 1886" of the 360.

Nitrowolf22168d ago (Edited 2168d ago )

I have never played this, mostly because I didn't own an Xbox prior to a few months ago Def. will check this out

darthv722167d ago

It certainly has a cool story and its a good game. it was just marred by long development time and kind of egotistical creator.

Looper2167d ago

Hey!! I was told survivors had all signed an NDA! I'm telling!

Kribwalker2167d ago

i really liked this one too. Always wished for a sequel, but sadly i don’t see it in the cards

excaliburps2167d ago

Yeah, it had a solid story and game mechanics. I remember the controls weren't smartly implemented, and every time you respawned, the animation was so long.

Fantangoooo2167d ago

I can't count the number of times I finished this game gridding for gear. Weird control but I liked it

Neonridr2167d ago

sounds very Polybius to me..

Poopmist2167d ago

Me and my friend beat it so many times. I got the best armor mathematically possible in it. Great game imo but their needed to be more tutorials on how runes work. The one that spawns singularities upon hitting someone was cash.

DerfDerf2167d ago

I actually really enjoyed it.

RamRod882167d ago

I beat it too. The controls were weird, but once I got use to them it was okay. I found the story to be actually half decent. Too bad there wasn't a sequel because I really believe if they have fixed the issues the first game had(controls, camera, etc), it could have been a great series.

HyperMoused2167d ago

I though it was great too, yay us

Anomander2167d ago

Beat it as well. it had a good story line. Overall it was decent.

glennhkboy2167d ago

I remember that I played the 1st stage. The control was so bad that I couldn't force myself to continue.

morganfell2167d ago

Fun fact...you're actually one of six :) That game was the reason I kept an Xbox 360 running until they released the very last B/C titles and it was among them.

Chronicle7802167d ago

I thought the game was ok, clunky but ok. Every time I go back to play it though it takes 20 minutes for the controls to 'click' again. Pity most of the advanced combos and controls aren't listed anywhere in the game.

Phoenix Down 87.0 – Too Human

Denis Dyack would disapprove.

darthv722416d ago

I liked this game. It has it's flaws but the story and mechanics are pretty good. It still holds up today.

Kribwalker2415d ago

i really enjoyed it when it came out.

It was free recently on xbox through BC. Id love to see this revived but sadly i think the legal issues would stop that
