Of Boss Fights That Never End

Split-screen writes: "Sylphet from BtL, after taking on another boss that undoubtedly caused maternity officials to collapse laughing at their naming (Pandemonium Warden), says the developer should think real hard about their Final Fantasy XI pre-game warning that states, 'We have no desire to see your real life suffer as a consequence. Don't forget your family, your friends, your school or your work.' Maybe they left out, 'and your health' on purpose.

"How long is too long for a boss fight? Take a look at some of these beings of supreme mortality who forgot to include 'dying gracefully' to their resumes."

They forgot to add Yiazmat from Final Fantasy XII to the list.

Relcom6490d ago (Edited 6490d ago )

Osmoisis(i forget how to spell it) in FF9. I never figured out how to beat him.

Good list though i enjoyed it.

v1c1ous6490d ago

find all friendly monsters and he can be hit with physical attacks.

also, since he only has 60k~ hp, he can literally be killed in 2 turns if all of your chars can pull off 9999 hits before they die....

Relcom6490d ago

Thanks for tip v1c1ous. I got to find my PS1 memory card now

JD_Shadow6490d ago

They forgot "The End" from MGS3, as well.

How a boss fight which always comes up during these kinds of discussions NOT come up on this list is beyond me.

ChampIDC6490d ago

Maybe they didn't like The End due to the ability to kill him with age. I suppose that makes the boss fight last a week, though, if you're counting the time the console is off.

cjp4eva6489d ago

Hey man, when you refer to "The End" what monster are you talking about? I keep hearing about this but dont know what people are talking about, I dont remember a boss in MSG$ being that hard IDK maybe theres an alternate ending?

The sad part is Square-Enix/Squaresoft has a horrifying rep for creating long boss battles, so i thought it'd be better to just name a few and ask every one if they felt the same or would recommend other such bosses to hate.

superman6490d ago

Thats Ramirez from Skies of Arcadia. That game was amazing.

games4fun6490d ago

you beat me to it ;)

i loved playing that game and even after you beat the final boss they let you continue to sail the skies there were some side-quests i found after i beat ramirez

v1c1ous6490d ago

the one you fight in a corridor type thing and have to make him knock down pillars....that took me HOURS to beat.

LossTheEarthbreaker6489d ago

The only one that took me hours was the last.

The one you mentioned was a pain in the ass, too, though.

hay6490d ago

Weird, I raped Omega(FFVIII) in few minutes.

switch only for 7 8 and 9

remake and rebirth ps5

S2Killinit222d ago

7,8,9 only Switch
7 remake & rebirth only PS5?
Is this accurate? Wish it was all for both.

-Foxtrot224d ago

Why can’t they just do a cool classic collection with VII, VIII and IX in with some goodies similar to what they did with the Pixel Remaster.

FinalFantasyFanatic223d ago

I would honestly go for a Remaster Collection, just AI upscale some textures (there are really good fan mods for that), widescreen everything where possible, higher native resolution, etc...

It seems like a no-brainer to make such a large portion of what was FF's golden age into a collection of it's own.

gold_drake222d ago

this is square we're talking about.

VersusDMC223d ago

Weird that 7 and 8 are together for 40 and 9 is 40 on it's own.

8 should be the one on it's own as it actually has redone models.

jznrpg223d ago (Edited 223d ago )

I have ff8 ps4 remastered physical euro version. They should have put these on PS5 physically so lame.

B5R223d ago

I'm actually so tired of hearing about FFIX. Just replayed it with Moguri Mod earlier this month. That might as well be the definitive version.

Broken Games That Never Got Fixed

While a lot (like way too many) games launch in sorry states these days, a lot of them do eventually get polished up over time fixes. The same can’t be said for these properly broken games.

Worst for me is wipeout 2048.
I got gold in every single player race, made it extremely far into the great online shop platinum was a finger away.. then lost all my online progression. Many players experienced the same and hadn’t been fixed since

joab777285d ago

Cyberpunk and No Mans Sky are obviously the 2
best comeback stories. Cyberpunk is literally one of the best RPGs ever made now.

Christopher284d ago

I wouldn't call NMS broken at release, just under-delivered.

Michiel1989285d ago

junctioning is only broken now because it's been datamined which monster which gives which card and which card gives which items and every single spell to junction with the highest points for each stat. For it's time when that info wasn't readily available it was good, not without it's flaws, but not broken,

-Foxtrot285d ago

Exactly. I never got this because what made it broken was the knowledge of what to exploit.

Playing the game for the first time back then you never had any knowledge to make it so easy.

One minute the Junction system is complicated, the next it's super easy / broken. What is it?

gold_drake285d ago

i mean, ff8 is not "broken" per se, its just that the junction system is too good and easily exploited even an hour into the game. haha

Ashunderfire86284d ago

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is one of them. I can’t get in the Cantina bar later on in the game. The door and other doors throughout the environment is locked off. It is a shame, because I wanted to complete the game, but I can’t until they fix it.

Playstation Icons: Squall Leonhart

Gary Green said: Tempting as it is to dedicate our first installment of PlayStation Icons to a franchise-leader like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, or even Sackboy, instead I’m choosing a character that I, like so many others, connected with on a personal level. He’s a moody, world-weary teen, a proud loner with no time for the drama of others, and yet he’s also a hero just waiting for the motivation to unleash his full potential. He’s a warrior. He’s a leader. He’s the king of internal monologues. It’s time to meet Squall Leonhart.
