Sony Gives Six Reasons Why You Should Gift a PS Vita This Holiday

"Stumped on gift ideas for your nearest & dearest? Here are 6 reasons why a PS Vita makes the perfect stocking-filler "

Apollosupreme3683d ago (Edited 3683d ago )

It's turned into an indie system. I can do that stuff on my tablet on a big screen. Remote play is nice when it works. Remote play isn't enough to get me using my Vita again though...

If you don't want to game on your phone or tablet but need the game in your hands and you don't like 3DS' more youthful marketed titles then get a Vita.

vikingland13683d ago

It's great for the PS eco system.

Stop telling the truth, your killing fanboyz

Protagonist3683d ago

@Apollosupreme

I got a Sony tablet Z and tried the games that are available for the Vita on the tablet... but nah! it ain´t the same.

Apollosupreme3683d ago (Edited 3683d ago )

They keep showing up to vote disagree while offering nothing to the conversation. I'd love to actually hear why I am wrong or how I am failing to see the value of the system now going into 2016 over a tablet, phone or 3DS.

Dont plan on selling my Vita but damn, it's getting XCOM now and I'd be excited for that if it weren't already out on almost every other hand held not called a 3DS. When I look at what's coming for Vita I see nothing that excites me or wouldn't be a better experience on some other platform. I am keeping it for my late 1990's-early 2000's off and on JRPG craving and that's about it... But let's forget most of those are on tablet now too... I don't play them on tablet because Sony doesn't offer an emulator for tablet to enjoy my PSN purchases. Maybe one day...

Vhampir3683d ago

Get a vita if you like to play Senran Kagura's touch events in public, with high volume. That'll be entertaining.

Seriously, if you're a brainless sony fanboy, get a Vita. If you must play Persona 4 Golden, instead of Persona 4, get a vita. Else, get something that has a future. Sony is putting everything into PS4 and PSVR, they don't care about the Vita.

Apollosupreme3683d ago (Edited 3683d ago )

@Protagonist

Did you hook up a DS3 or a DS4 or are we talking touch screen controls? If you need physical buttons there are really good options for tablets out there.

@Vhampir

Sony's VR is a much better investment to those who have a PS4 if they're considering a Vita. I agree.

The best handheld ever. It is absolutely the perfect gift for someone who loves Playstation and/or top quality gaming on the go. Sony may not be making more AAA games for it, but the big library of existing games and the huge amount of indies still coming to it makes it an amazing game console.

The only downside is the expensive memory cards.

DarkOcelet3683d ago (Edited 3683d ago )

I am very tempted to get one but i wish Sony would support it more by bringing more 1st party exclusives .

ShadowKnight3682d ago

I use to have one! Its great it just don't have enough support and that's the only reason why I sold it. I think Smart Phones, IPads, and DS is the reason why it struggled.

G20WLY3683d ago (Edited 3683d ago )

The memory cards are too expensive, but shopping around nets better prices.

It's a great device though. If you have a PS4 and PS+, they're so cheap these days it's almost a no brainer. I remote play my PS4 before bed (and at hotels) and use the PS+ games or cheapo PlayStation classics when I'm on train/plane/taxi journeys. I love it.

Protagonist3683d ago

@Boomtonic

I agree!, it´s the best gaming handheld created, but I still only got my launch 4GB card and never had the need for more. I buy almost all my Vita games retail. So unless you go all digital, I don´t see the problem.

6. money in their pockets

There I fixed that for you.

UserNameIsNotTaken3683d ago

Could be said about anything really

MegaRay3683d ago

I love Vita, but Sony are the last people to give me reasons to "gave" a Vita. I can understand why they dont make AAA for the system, but not mentioning it in big events like E3 and so on is so stupid, and now they act like they care...

Protagonist3683d ago

I agree they/Sony were pretty shitty with the Vita at E3, but there was plenty of Vita at the Playstation experience a few days ago.

MegaRay3683d ago

PSX is for playstation fans, which they know what a Vita is anyway. But the gamers attend to E3 will must likely never heard of a Vita except as a "dead" system, or in a "no games" joke. They should show gamers that Vita is still exist and alive, instead of hiding it as if they're embarrassed of it.

Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.

I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.

Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.

fr0sty8h ago

What I see happening here is, R* is going to ban mods in GTA6 UNLESS you buy them from the marketplace and R* then gets a cut of that sale.

ActualWhiteMan11h ago

Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.

Christopher8h ago

It's okay as long as they get a cut of the money.

fr0sty8h ago

Expect R* to force it on you.

Snookies122h ago

Yep, right there with you. I'll happily donate to a mod creator if it looks really cool, or if I enjoy it. But expecting payment up front? Nope, not touching it.

IanTH7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.

I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.
