2015 has given us some great new intellectual properties. Here are 6 that deserve to get a sequel over the next few years.

Until Dawn will most likely get a sequel, especially as a spin-off is already in development for PSVR. As much as I loved The Order 1886, I seriously doubt Sony will invest in a sequel - it simply did not meet sales expetations and came under way too much criticism.

Regarding Bloodbourne - Miyazaki has raised concerns about over exposure and suggests that From Software may not make Bloodbourne 2. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/r...

Yeah. Although i personally loved The Order. I think it could have been done better as far as balancing the gameplay and non gameplay sections but over all it really didnt deserve the criticism that it got. I mean they were shooting it down starting 1 whole year before it was released! I would love to see a sequel for it, but i dont know if it will happen.

EDKICK3803d ago

People started shooting down before release because it was so hyped up then people finally got their hands on it and realized it sucked and were warning people like good reviewers and such should.

S2Killinit3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

Um no they began cruticising it BEFORE it was released, 1 year to be exact. Anything that was revealed about the game was criticised. It was really interesting.

The 3 biggest issues they had were not even legit:
1) too short (it was 11 hours, First Gears of War was 9 hours)
2) not innovative (double standard much? Imagine if we demanded this from every game. Also whats interesting is that there were some innovative aspects in The Order)
3) too many QTE (so was Shenmue, not all games should be the same)

Jalva3804d ago (Edited 3804d ago )

Until Dawn definitely deserves a sequel or a spiritual successor, Bloodborne is a no-brainer, that game was perfect for its genre, The Order on the other hand was absolute trash and the fact that it won't get a sequel proves that, especially since it was planned as a franchise.

Rimeskeem3804d ago

The Order was far from trash, sure it was short and didn't have much replay ability but for the love of god the atmosphere was incredible, the graphics were amazing, the gameplay was solid (nothing unique but it worked), and the story was interesting enough for people to play through it.

Really, if The Order was a 20 hour campaign and had a much harder gameplay style it would have been getting far more praise.

Jalva3804d ago (Edited 3804d ago )

The Good:

Graphics
Soundtrack

The Bad:

Far too many QTE's
Letterboxed view
Terrible lycan AI
Shooting gallery shootouts
Instant-death detection in stealth sequences
2 boss fights which are the exact time and consist of nothing but QTE's
No replay value whatsoever
Incredibly short
4 or 5 chapters that are entirely cutscenes
Awful sequel bait ending
Pacing
Half of the already incredibly short game is cutscenes
Cliched overly serious characters and predictable plot
Incredibly long unskippable cutscenes to mask the lengthy load times

But yeah, let's just pretend the length is The Order's only problem...

Rimeskeem3804d ago

@Jalva

Are you really that hard to please?

Jalva3804d ago (Edited 3804d ago )

@Rimeskeem

No I'm actually not, as I said I love Bloodborne and Until Dawn, but I can't just lie to myself and say The Order isn't trash, let's be honest here, if The Order was a multiplatform game then nobody would care, it would end up like Fracture or Neverdead, completely forgotten about a day after release, there's a reason it bombed in sales... and no it's not because "xbox fanboy journalists smeared the game with negativity due to a hatred of Sony" like this site wants to believe, if that were the case Bloodborne and Until Dawn wouldn't have gotten such stellar reviews, those journalists merely warned people of the many problems the game had like they're supposed to.

Edit: Also add to the bad list: forced walking sequences, almost forgot about those disasters, but then again there's so much wrong with the game that I'm bound to forget some things.

S2Killinit3804d ago (Edited 3804d ago )

The lenght was on par with most games in its genre on their debut (namely gears of war was shorter just fyi)

Jalva3804d ago (Edited 3804d ago )

@S2Killinit

Gears of War had replay value, coop and multiplayer, you were getting your money's worth if you're into cover shooters, The Order doesn't provide any of that and also half The Order's length is cutscenes, the reviews for both games reflect those points, know the premise of an argument before contributing to it...

jb2273804d ago

@jalva

What S2k seemed to be getting at and what you seemed to ignore was the base mechanics of the game. Sure there may have been too many cutscenes, but the core shooting mechanics & weaponry of the game were on point. Most reviews will agree with that as well. You just boiled the game down to what would fit your argument, so what is the actual premise in the first place? The Lycan fights were fine by me, but I also liked that Idea when it was used in all of the Dead Space games. No one complained about those sections that involved the necromorphs that charged at you, and in all honesty those were some of the most tense encounters in that series. The Lycan encounters in The Order were virtually the same thing. Granted, I'd like to see them expand those encounters into more than that single type, but they could absolutely keep those ideas.

The Order was far from a perfect game, but sequels in gaming are meant to keep the best bits & improve on the areas that need work. Considering the world, the lore & the base combat mechanics were the aspects that nearly every review praised, there is still plenty of room to create a compelling sequel in that franchise, regardless of your opinions passed off as facts.

I have literally only played a half dozen matches of online mp in my life, so that doesn't appeal to me, would that make it alright to say that all mp should be banished because it factually doesn't create replay value? I get my money's worth from single player campaigns that I enjoy & I reserve the right to ignore mp entirely...doesn't mean that I have the right to require that it not be added to my games anymore than you'd have the right to require it be added in.

If a sequel to The Order is made that cuts down on the cutscenes, expands the lore in interesting ways, lengthens gameplay time & improves on the aspects that matter to the game they are making, it has every right to exist that any other game would. You can't just pass your opinions off as factual statements when there are plenty of gamers who'd beg to differ.

You can tell that The Order was made with a sequel in mind, but I think it is the classic case of a game that tried so hard to get one aspect right that it failed in every other way. The story was predictable, the characters very trope-esque, and the gameplay not that great. That being said, I think ready at dawn has a good enough track record with other releases that a sequel can happen.

Also don't sleep on like a dragon Yakuza such a good game

Dexterio212d ago

Now we're talking! Best month for me this whole year.

Puty212d ago

I am very happy for Tekken 3

Redgrave211d ago

It's not going to get trophies, is it 😕

It's a really solid addition, but I'd love a platinum for it. Same with Soul Calibur 3 if that's really next month.

Deeeeznuuuts211d ago

Yeah, it's a real shame that some publishers still don't add trophies, I mean, even Disney do and they even update games to add them

VersusDMC211d ago

Some PS2 classics have trophies so hopefully Soul Calibur 3 has it.

And ps1 classics not having trophies is dissapointing but at least they give you the new version for free if you bought the old ps1 classic.
