Extraquarter-"It's no secret that Nintendo is hard at work on the next gaming console to succeed the Nintendo Wii U. As with any gaming company invested in hardware, while your current system is in its prime, you are at busy working away on the next-generation of hardware. What makes Nintendo next system, code-named NX unique, is that it's becoming Nintendo replacement for the Wii U that was supposed to be this generation console."

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).
Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.
Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo completed its share repurchase and set its secondary offering price at 8,347 yen ahead of March 16 delivery.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit in the United States Court of International Trade.
Nintendo of America is suing the United States government over the sweeping tariffs President Donald Trump put in place last year, according to a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade and obtained by Aftermath.
LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.
Let's hope that Nintendo doesn't go completely overboard with this controller. It should be unique, but not so different that it alienates the majority of core gamers.
Look at what Sony did with the DualShock 4 for example. It has unique features such as the Light Bar, Touchpad, and motion sensing. However it's overall shape is still something that many core gamers find very comfortable to use to the point that many find it their favorite controller this gen. Nintendo should take note of this method of subtlety in their own fashion.
This looks like a mess. Nintendo is setting themselves for failure if the patents are anything to go by. ;)
I think this could be an interesting concept, not really the design of this patent, for a new controller. The dual screen has been very helpful for years starting with the DS and now the 3DS. There is no doubt that off TV play is useful and here to stay. Microsoft and Sony have both miniver Nintendo and provide the same thing now. I do agree though that Nintendo needs to nail the controller perfectly. This looks an aweful lot like a modified GameCube controller. The Cpntroller that has been called the best Nintendo controller ever. So if they can fit a screen somehow on it I am all for it for all of the same reasons I like dual screens now. However the controller can't be any bigger than a Vita or 3DS if they do it. Otherwise it is too bulky and will be far too expensive. Interesting to see how this pans out.
People need to stop.
Nobody knows what the NX is or what it looks like.
They didn't even show the damn thing yet!
"What we think the NX controller will look like " should be the title...
