Who Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Developer CyberConnect2?

IGN - CyberConnect2’s expertise lies in beautiful, well-adapted anime fighters, but its next project partners it with Square Enix and other studios to recreate Final Fantasy VII.

They're the devs behind .hack, Naruto Ultimate Ninja, and Asura's Wrath.

The cinematic feel of coolness in their games rivals that of Platinum Games.

I read that they split the Hack series into four parts and sold them for full price and each part was about 20 hours. I hope to God that doesnt happen to FFVII Remake.

Sonyslave33811d ago

They even made u pay an extra 10buck for true ending in Asura's Wrath .

.Hack is a fantastic series so I trust them with this. Also you by the way you talk every 2 or 3 part game should be crammed into one game. Earlier this year people were complaining about devs cutting content from game...here we have Square ADDING MORE CONTENT than just the original game and you are complaining...how dare they remake your precious FF7 and give you more content than the original game had, those evil bast***s.

Go tell Bioware instead of making a new Mass Effect Trilogy to just write the story into one game. You clearly don't want the content or more than one game. Halo 1-5 clear could have had corners cut to give you it all on one disc.

They don't own the IP to those titles so I'm not sure they had that call or if that even has anything to do with why they picked that team.

They are a strong team and produced great games. They are merely the team making the game, its still under the direction of the main Square producers and directors. Consider Platinum is making Nier 2...the director of Nier2 is the same as Nier 1, same as all 3 Drakengard games and states this regarding the team.

So I wouldn't worry about Cyberconnect2 making this remake as they are merely hired hands and what I've seen thus far looks amazing, I don't get folks doubting what a team can do, yet when the title was revealed for the first 2 trailers.....its simply stunning, now suddenly they don't know..

lol The game will be fine.

Thats actually a good ratio, considering people bought games that can be beaten in 10-20 hours at full price and gave the games acclaim out the ass

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3810d ago

20 hours? IMOQ was like 80+ hours each.
G.u. each part was at least 50+

ninsigma3810d ago

Hack just had multiple games in the series. They were full games as far as I'm aware so that would be why they were full price each. I played one of them and it was awesome and it also included a .hack anime with the game.

Well seeing as how .hack was an amazing installment into a fake MMO series, and it felt like you were actually in online servers back in the day of early online console gameplay. I have no doubt that CyberConnect2 know what to do with the remake, it could be episodic, but imagine how much detail they will put into every moment that the original game offered, rather than just making it a remake and just skipping all the finer details. I'm looking forward to playing every moment.

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

If you already own it... There, I saved you the click on a deliberately misleading article.

DivineHand125106d ago

I bought the game yesterday on steam for $4 because Square Enix is trying to replace it with a version that has no mod support.

Prior to yesterday, I had no idea the game had so many great mods until people started making a fuss out of it.

Knightofelemia106d ago

I wish Square would port other old games to newer systems I want Xenogears.

gold_drake106d ago

You can thank FF7 scaring Baldur's Gate 2's director 'S***less' for every RPG since

But BG2 didn't emerge in a vacuum, and in a recent chat with Slandered Gaming it emerged that—while we can thank BG2 for a lot of our favourite RPGs since—we have a whole other game to thank for BG2. That'd be Final Fantasy 7, which lit a fire under BG2 director James Ohlen to go all out with the game's structure and companions, per Trent Oster—who worked on the original Baldur's Gate and has since become CEO of Beamdog, the studio behind the BG1 and BG2 Enhanced Editions.
