I like the customization. I would rather have the blogs and user reviews on the right hand side though.

The list view is nice, liking it a lot, but when typing the its a bit hard to see what im typing. Make it brighter please :D

No complaints here . I usually come here almost everyday thru my PS4. Thanks to the N4g community and the hard work from the N4g staff, to keep this site working everyday .

Love the look of the dark list mode, I'm gonna test it a lot more though, I'm so used to the normal way!

Dark mode should be the default I think, but you need to make the text brighter when typing a comment. Grey on grey isn't ideal. I'd also like user reviews and blogs to appear on the right like on the older site, even if the way they are displayed is a bit different. Apart from that, I like it.

My thoughts

The dark background is nice but it blends the boxes into it meaning there is no outline for them to stand out.

Dark Background should be standard and the list mode should be standard aswell. I don't want to keep coming to the site and having to keep changing this everytime.

Can't you just take the original sites layout, update it, make it look new, pretty and modernized but keep the same layout roughly.

This is honestly a nice improvement. I can actually seem myself using this site more. And I laughed when the site called me an a**hole.

Looks good, can we have it so our own posts are a different colour from everyone else's so we can easily find them?

I hate the huge picture layout. Scrolling sucks and I would rather have the standard layout because it is more user friendly. The newer layout is for blind people who like to view pictures. Who the hell wants to look at pictures over the content?

I dont understand how this is mobile friendly when I can only see ONE news article on my screen compared to the old layout and I am currently using mobile and the newer layout reminds me of childrens books with that have huge pictures and like 1 sentence per page

In what way is the new standard layout for mobile users? Like it would look cool for other purposes but for game related news hell no. Pictures are the least important reasons why anyone would click on an article. Can you imagine if a site like reddit adopted this method?

I actually really like the super grid, or at least I would if the size of the content square were determined algorithmically based on some criteria. Having massive squares for <100 "hotness" items seems odd, and I would love if I could set those larger squares to target topics or consoles of my choosing. I also noticed that some text is unreadable (like the "Update: ..." text in this post) in the black theme.

Returning the list mode and adding dark mode are two really good decisions.

You might wanna readjust the color of the text as we type it in dark mode, however; it's a bit too grey when it's still being typed. Mistakes are easier to make; find a way to lighten up the text during the typing phase and this could work out nicely.

Beyond the typing stuff, though; for the love of God, improve the block system so that those we block can no longer see our posts, and vice versa.
If you have to, make Blocking and Ignoring separate things, where Ignoring works as it does now, by just hiding posts from ignored people in a pulled-up format, and blocking just totally blocks them out.

That way fans of both have their options.

Still not feeling it. When this new version actually does roll out will classic view still be available?

Doesn't display as well on a mobile phone, everything is crushed together and can only see at max 5 articles before scrolling, even then it doesn't display full headers let alone content of the article itself, current version I can see all that plus 10 articles at a time without scrolling.

A zoom option would be nice.

The whole layout is just a big hot mess.

If this comes out as the only way to look at the site I'm gone the same day, it's horrible.

Can you set the beta layout as your standard one already or do we have to wait until this beta is finished? I really love this new layout.

I'm actually enjoying the beta, the customize options is great. List style + Dark mode = Love (to me atleast). But just when in dark mode, the text that is being typed in the comments needs to be a bit lighter. Also the update box needs some different colors or something, that pistachio light green, with grey text is hard to read.

It looks great on mobile but the text when typing a comment, is too dark.

Oh my gosh, I can finally sort comments for the best voted ones ^ ^. Not that it matters anyways, some of the worst comments always seem to get a lot of agrees.

a much better update..thanks for giving us the customization option.. Giving the user to choose how he or she want to view the news is a great first step...

This is real nice. The customization is great and the site has a very nice modern feel to it without sacrificing the easy to navigate menu of the old site.

I put through a bunch of suggestions on feedback-

1. Colour for your own posts to find them easier.
2. Zoom option to view more on a page.
3. Remove the disagree button
4. Cap how many replies can be viewed (like EU blog) to try stop everyone from wanting to post on the first reply.

Love the new look

The customize functionality is great. The layout is also great. Perhaps in addition to light/dark, each section can have its own theme (PS4: Blue, Xbox: Green, Nintendo: Light Blue, etc...)

I can dig THIS version. I had to customize to see what was different. Fix the comment text color. Needs to be a bit whiter..... its too grey... (before u post it)

Now I dont care about the old n4g layout... keep the grid options, the dark version is a must to use.

Never mind there is one, This is much better! Found multiple ways to change the layout and can now edit multiple times ( not sure if I was able to do that before ) this is much better.

Without those, I can't "dig" the new format.

Dark mode > light mode, and I am happy I can customize it! Was scared I wouldn't have list view anymore! Got so used to the setup an the classic site and that big of a change scared me haha. Much better, liking it a lot!

Ya so I jumped on the "new" version expecting it to be just as bad, and at first glance it is. But as I used it for a couple minutes I would say it's passable. I wouldn't say its necessarily better or worse for my needs so if it is implemented I won't be mad.

Love dark mode, but please make list view the default option. It's superior to everything else.

At first I really didn't like the layout of how things looked. Then I changed layout to "list" and skin to "dark". I don't mind it at all. They could go that route. Nice Beta.

I'm a big fan, overall - I'm just not crazy about tilting my head to read the degrees meter on each thumbnail. It's pretty annoying. I think there are ways to keep the triangular theme but also have easier-read degrees.
