Some additional information about Final Fantasy VII Remake's episodic nature has emerged from a couple of sources. In short, Square Enix says it's taking the multi-entry approach to preserve content.

Jason Dietz: "We reveal the past year's best and worst video game publishers (based on their 2025 releases) in the 16th edition of our annual Game Publisher Rankings."
But... but... the garbage-mongers always tell us that Square Enix is in trouble! 😂

Final Fantasy VII 1997 exceeds 15.5 million units sold worldwide as of February 2026, reinforcing its legacy as the series best selling title.
Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."
It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

Square Enix announced its financial results for the first nine months of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and December 2025.
"and could be more along the lines of the recent trilogy of Hobbit films"
Unnecessarily stretched into three film and riddled with "I'm just here to prolong the film" moments?
$$$$$$
How long will each installment be is the real question that should be answered here. If every sub title of the game will be 40 hours or so, no one would complain lengthwise. Yet it would probably take some serious years to complete the full experience, so that's not people exactly wanted either. Square better act fast on this one and be as descriptive as they can about the matter at hand, because it's steadily turning into some PR nightmare, or they're just intentionally being ambiguous to test the waters and see the reaction.
That gameplay trailer was <3 It's a little dissapointing that the remake is going to be spread over multiple entries, but I appreciate that this is going to be a hard game to remake to the STANDARDS that everyone is expecting.
Let's talk pricing.
