Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader is Factor 5's masterpiece. Let's take a look back!

A deep dive into Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (2001), the GameCube launch-era flight combat classic from Factor 5 and LucasArts that made Star Wars feel cinematic.
Nintendo and Factor 5 (if they even exist) need to find a way to release a remastered trilogy. I know we were supposed to get a Wii version that never materialized, even though apparently it was virtually complete.
So many Star Wars games from yesteryear got ported to modern consoles. I'm still perplexed why the Rogue Squadron series is still not among those ports. With GCN being on the NSO now all three games could be on the service.
I was blown away when I first saw the teaser trailer for GC. Here it is in 480p 😁 https://www.youtube.com/wat...
I still remember the effect this game had on me back in the day, was very cutting edge. Was almost like playing a star wars movie on the GameCube. Really showcased the power of the cube.

A mix of first-party and third-party GameCube games should be available on Nintendo Switch 2's app.

WTMG's Leo Faria: "It might be hard to play Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader in an official way in 2021, but this is a game worth experiencing. I cannot believe this titan, as well as the GameCube as a whole, is now twenty years old. It is the pinnacle of Star Wars in video games, possibly the best game available for Nintendo’s purple lunchbox, and one of the best games of all time. Simple as that. No need to beat around the bush. Happy twentieth anniversary, Rogue Leader. You are damn near perfect and will forever be."
this was the game that got me hooked on the gamecube. Funny story but I had won a gamecube from my office xmas party and my wife had also bought me one for xmas. The one she got me was the platinum edition and the one I got from the office was the black edition that was bundled with star fox adventures (costco bundle w/strategy guide). I kept the black and returned the platinum in exchange for some games. Namely Rogue Leader and Luigi Mansion.
