I love the look of the new battle system. If the gameplay is as good and as challenging as Kingdom Hearts then its gonna be awesome.

And fighting Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon with that type of gameplay is gonna be interesting to witness.

ninsigma3827d ago

Bah! Fight the weapons will be awesome! My biggest interest in that regard is how we will fight weapon while we're in the airship.

@Smeargle

That's because they deemed the combat of the original game as not important. And as I said already, if everything what FFVII was is just turn based combat to you that's sad, and you're not really a true fan.

Also, your comparison with Uncharted is stupid. Uncharted is an action-adventure game, changing it to a TCG is changing genres drastically. Final Fantasy VII was a turn based rpg, now it is an action-rpg. It stayed in the genre of rpg, it just switched sub-genres.

Lastly, it wasn't a surprise jump as you make it out to be. FFCC was an action-rpg and FFDoC was a hybrid of TPS/RPG. The last one was a more drastic change, but obviously they were exploring the field of real-time combat years ago.

The hardore FF fans are going to buy it anyway. Don't even know why they're complaining.

Elda3827d ago

I co-sign your comment.

MRMagoo1233827d ago

Yeh except I won't. I came into the article to see differing opinions and now we find out its gonna be split into parts that's gonna be even more ppl not buying it. There is no chance I would buy it without turn based combat I hated ff13 and I don't like action rpgs. But you can keep telling yourself you know what other ppl will do with their own money tho buddy.

MRMagoo1233827d ago

Really ? I am a final fantasy fan thru and thru I even named my first daughter Rinoa from ff8 and I'm not planning on buying this game after seeing the combat. Any more assumptions I can dismiss for you ?

Elda3827d ago

Though you're still showing some interest by commenting in this article.Once it's released you'll buy it.

DragonKnight3827d ago

Commenting =/= showing interest. Commenting = Expressing an opinion. You have no basis to claim that anyone will buy the game because they comment here.

Lennoxb633827d ago

You're still going to buy it. lol

It would be a waste of this game's visuals for it to be tied down with that old gameplay. Everything about this remake clicks with me. Day 1 buy, if this comes out before XV, it will be my first FF I buy. I received 7 back on PS1, but got bored of it quick.

I consider myself a hardcore FF7 fan. It's my all time favorite game & I have completed over 10 times on different platforms. I'm very excited for the remake. Love what I have seen of the new combat! So excited!!

I wonder if they will include a classic mode in order to play the game both ways

MRMagoo1233827d ago

In order to play the game how it should be played you mean ?

Eiyuuou3827d ago

Except you don't get to decide what should or shouldn't be.

3827d ago
bow2yoda3827d ago

for those that say we dont get to decide, remember they can make anything they want... if we dont buy it you make them say fuck maybe we should have listened to the fans!

i mean, well deserved, its one of the best.

VenomUK96d ago

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

aaronlif1097d ago

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

blacktiger96d ago

If you already own it... There, I saved you the click on a deliberately misleading article.

DivineHand125120d ago

I bought the game yesterday on steam for $4 because Square Enix is trying to replace it with a version that has no mod support.

Prior to yesterday, I had no idea the game had so many great mods until people started making a fuss out of it.

Knightofelemia120d ago

I wish Square would port other old games to newer systems I want Xenogears.

gold_drake119d ago

u get the switch 1 version of the og ff7 for free if you own 7 remake for the switch 2.

You can thank FF7 scaring Baldur's Gate 2's director 'S***less' for every RPG since

But BG2 didn't emerge in a vacuum, and in a recent chat with Slandered Gaming it emerged that—while we can thank BG2 for a lot of our favourite RPGs since—we have a whole other game to thank for BG2. That'd be Final Fantasy 7, which lit a fire under BG2 director James Ohlen to go all out with the game's structure and companions, per Trent Oster—who worked on the original Baldur's Gate and has since become CEO of Beamdog, the studio behind the BG1 and BG2 Enhanced Editions.
