7 things that make Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L

Cole Wyatt looks at a few of the ways Fallout 4 improves over its predecessors.

Bansai3808d ago

1. Super weak weapon variety[especially compared to new vegas]
2. Paper-thin faction system
3. Exhaustingly bad story
4. Colossally dumbed down dialogues
5. Idiotic romance mechanic
6. Abhorrent quest design
7. Lackluster city [boston was by far the worst place in the game]

No, that was crap. Anyway, I can agree with 1, 2 and 7, but i'm a little confused on the rest. The dialogue was leaps and bounds better than any of the other FPSout games, and anything else Bethesda has done. Romance is kind of an add-on, really, so I wasn't expecting that to be much. Quests...are..the same?

if anything, i'm annoyed at the settlement building. Nothing matches up.

1. Amazing weapons and mod system that make it hard to go back to Fallout 3 and New Vegas
2. Varied and likeable factions
3. Touching story with great twists and turns
4. Voiced protagonist makes you really connect with your character
5.Romance system makes allies more than silent mannequins following you around
6. Brilliant, fun, well thought out quests
7. Boston looks great and is super fun to explore

One of the best (bang for your bucks) games ever! while some games are charging full price for games that are empty multiplayer only titles, this game is huge and filled with so much content packed in it's crazy.

Bansai3808d ago (Edited 3808d ago )

you didn't even make it "special", and lol at romance, voiced prot, likeable factions and weapons XDDDDD

btw. your fallout avatar says it all, really.

It's good to see justice was served and bugthesda didn't get any award on TGA.

Dude you are coming across as some severely joyless, jaded hipster right now. Metal Gear 5 (you're avatar) was no great shakes compared to the previous games whereas Fallout 4 improved on everything Fallout 3 did, yet now you types are hating on it as hard as possible? I really dont get it.

Bansai3808d ago (Edited 3808d ago )

I won't deny MGS V was lackluster, because I'm not a brainwashed fanboy.

Fallout 4 sucks hard, in a year where we got a game like Witcher 3, Fallout 4 seems almost like a bad joke, especially in case of plot, dialogues, quests and quest design, not to mention technical aspects like loadings, graphics and tragic framerate if you're on consoles [played it on ps4].

Oh, and how did fallout 4 improve on everything Fallout 3 did when dialogues alone are 100x times worse?

Ocsta3808d ago (Edited 3808d ago )

I dont love Fallout 4 because Im a fanboy, I love it because Its a genuinely great Fallout game. End of. Comparing Fallout to the Witcher is a bit unfair but there you go. Edit: Yes, the "Mass Effect" dialogue wheel was a mistake. Yet, with a little mod called Extended dialogues, you feel like you're playing Fallout 3 again. It sucks that modders had to fix it but the very fact that the game is so moddable is a part of it's beauty. Sorry that you're stuck playing a Bethsoft RPG on console mate.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder181d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
