Insane that Tim is finally making a sequel!

Can't wait for Psychonauts 2

ninsigma3818d ago

Yeeeeeeeessssss!!!!!
How was this not even rumoured?? Great surprise, I'm extremely happy! :D

robtion3818d ago

Yep, I did not see this happening.

I hope it keeps all of the quirkiness of the original.

ninsigma3818d ago

Yes the quirkiness must remain. Can't wait to see it on new consoles!

robtion3818d ago

Psychonauts was so great back on ps2. Could be amazing on ps4. I am excited to play it.

Gazondaily3818d ago

Looks like a fun company lol. Sigh...pulls down pants... Im into it too

Perjoss3818d ago

"pulls down pants"

Is it some kind of Psychonauts reference or did you just feel like getting naked?

003818d ago

the man failed to complete every game he crowdfunded, and it would be efficient to flush your money down the toilet.

brish3818d ago

Seriously?! How many times has he done this?

003818d ago

four times, twice for broken age and one for Spacebase DF-9 and another for Massive Chalice. I'm sure there is more but Tim doesn't know how to do math so your money will literally be wasted and you will get an incomplete game.

ninsigma3818d ago

He said in the video that it was funded the same way for the first. So we at least know he completes psychonauts :p

akiraburn3818d ago

Yeah, I was actually about to mention that in the other article. Although Psychonauts will always be one of my favorite platformers and remain a very memorable game, there are some significant things to keep in mind about how Tim has conducted his company and himself over recent years which has made many like myself lose confidence in this game as quickly as it was announced.

For anyone looking for points of reference, look at how SpaceBase DF-9 was handled. With anyone who buys that game even now, you only need to look to the reviews to get an idea of what happened there. The game was never completed, hasn't been updated in over a year, and they have no intentions of ever working on it again, leaving a plethora of game crashing bugs, unfinished game content, and other problems.

Broken Age was another game that saw huge crowd funding success, and despite hitting an excess of over eight times their asking budget for the game (initial goal was $400K, total funding was over $3.3 million), they still ended up so over-budget that they had to release the game on "Early Access" just to be able to afford to finish Act 2. And even after that there are people through today who still haven't received their backer tier rewards. Generally speaking, the game was also pretty short for the amount they received from the initial backing and Early Access sales.

Grim Fandango, another one of my favorite titles, received a "Remaster" that was essentially a quick porting job with barely more than a touch-up to the prior lighting system and trophies/achievements. The old bugs (including game-breaking ones) still exist, and

Even the fun light games they put out, like the Costume Quest titles, often release with an unacceptable amount of bugs and/or awful performance issues. That was my experience with the Costume Quest games on PS3, PS4 and even on PC. That definitely should not happen for a game as simplistic as those are.

Of course, this is just touching on some of the studio's efforts as developers, and not to mention Tim's stance (and by association, his studio's stance) on the GamerGate situation, where he has previously belittled and trashed on anyone who supported GamerGate and the "NotYourShield" movement. So I would implore people to consider these factors before they donate anything to him.

Was thinking of posting something similar to this but I've become quite concious of always sounding so cynical about todays games development.

Double Fine are really not the company they used to be, I've watched lots of episodes of their Broken Age documentary (which is excellent btw) so I understand why they do things the way they do, but its not always in the best interest of gamers.

I like Tim and I like Double Fine but What they did with Space Base is really not cool.

Not as Good as August we got Lies of P and Day Z.

Terry_B264d ago

Better than August, we got Stardew Valley and Psychonauts 2.

FinalFantasyFanatic263d ago

I think it's more perspective, Lies of P is good, but I already own Psychonauts 2, and I don't care for Stardew Valley, so August was better for me. But if I had none of these games, nor certain preferences, September is the better overall month.

darthv72264d ago

Psychonauts 2 is a fun game.

Abnor_Mal264d ago

Nothing of interest for me this month.

FPSRUSSIA264d ago

same ill be adding them to my Library but wont be playing them.

Abnor_Mal263d ago

Same adding to library but not playing.

thorstein263d ago

Different I'll be playing them but won't be adding them to my library

Neonridr263d ago

I always just add everything to my library so I can download them in the future if I want. These games don't particularly interest me, but good for those who were looking forward to playing them.

Viewfinder is a great puzzle game. A must for fans of puzzles
