I had the chance to chat with Mr. Berlyn for almost an hour. He walked me through the world of game development in the 1990s, the heartbreak of watching the Bubsy franchise crumble, and some of the work he’s been doing since returning to the industry more recently."

Joe from GamersFTW writes: A few days ago, I felt like a villain in an epic of good vs evil- when I ventured onto Steam to see what the latest greenlit games were and I saw a familiar face that I belonged to a 90s gaming mascot that had been left to die after choking on his horrible games and awful one-liners- Bubsy the Bobcat. I cried, “No. NO! You’re supposed to be dead!” as though he had emerged injured yet triumphantly from being hit with a mountain of force that would’ve killed any other mortal creature. Bubsy the Bobcat lives, despite never being the star of a good game and being a horribly outdated character that should’ve died within seconds of stepping onto Steam, drowned in a sea of games that are better celebrations of the 90s era of gaming than Bubsy ever was...
The reason it hasn't improved on anything since the original versions is because it's literally running the old games on an emulator. I wish I was joking. Appalling game.

Hardcore Gamer: Bubsy never quite had the adoration of other anthropomorphic platforming protagonists (see: Sonic the Hedgehog), but he still had a fanbase — before Bubsy 3D.
It was crap back then and it's even bigger crap today. Free crap on emulation even. Save your money.

Announced just last month, Bubsy Two-Fur now has a release date.
I love that game, I played on Snes!
The original Bubsy was pretty fun. Creator sounds like a pretty nice guy. We also got Syphon Filter out of Eidetic - another series I'd love to see make a comeback.
