5 Outstanding User Created Fallout 4 Settlements

Fallout 4 has only been out for a week and these huge, fully realized settlements have already been created. In the same amount of time, we've got the odd Melon plant lying around, built a square shack on the roof of Red Rocket Diner, and got a Brahmin stuck in our settler's home. We think we'll leave the settlement building to these pros.

I had no idea this kind of stuff was in the game. Can't wait to play it.

If you're like me you spend an hour and end up with a perfect cube for a house made of metal. I have no idea how these guys manage this!

lol i wish i could demolish everything in towns

would make it much easier on my brain when designing a place. I also wish i could have an overhead view. The way it is is stupid IMO with your character needing to be run around and such.

Blacktar is spot on.

To me this is the weakest area of the game. It is horribly unintuitive(?), the UI is terrible, and there is hardly any indication to let the user know that anything assigned is being done.

It took me a while to even figure out what had to be done and this was after placing things in the wrong area, realizing I didn't have the materials and other factors.

This part of the game needs to be patched or mod'ed real quick for consoles.

Edit:
It's great that people are getting creative but for us simple folk there needs to be an easier method.

Far Cry has the most intuitive console map editor IMO. Fallout should follow suit with regard to object placement.

I spent like my first 5 hrs building a huge tree house in Sanctuary. It's so amazing.

On reddit, these ppl are making HUGE electric Pip Boy signs that can be seen from really far away.

On PS4 I couldn't go over 4 or 5 stories high so that limits things. Maybe PC allows for larger structures.

But regardless I won't be building anything noteworthy, I found this activity to be rather boring.

Kane223812d ago

@kneon the game only allows 4 stories on all versions.

Heck! I just learned how to get the light bulbs lit.

I simply don't have the patience to do any of that. Doesn't help that the UI when building stuff (IMO) is awful. Why we couldn't have had an overhead view.. maybe when mods are available for the PS4 someone will.

Amazing structures though. Must be a PitA maintaining it though.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder166d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain166d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
