Fallout 4: Here’s How To Toggle Multithreading On PC And Improve Performance

Fallout 4 users might face some performance issues on PC resulting in inconsistent performance for the game. It turns out that one of the issue regarding performance relates to the disabled multithreading for Fallout 4, even if we manually tweak the ini file. There is another way to enable multithreading though, and that can be accomplished by using console commands on PC.

I really dunno why this game get pass for $hitty port.
i know it's not game breaking but my 970 should get better than sub 60fps and i know the problem isn't in my end or 970, cpu bottleneck all over again.

DragonbornZ3832d ago

Has it been getting one? I've read that a lot of people love the game, but they've been pretty damn critical of the performance.
Then again I haven't read reviews really, just forums n what not.

Grap3832d ago

the game is great, but it's the old Bethesda game"broken at release" oh well at least not a lot of game breaking bugs .

Doodleburger3832d ago

I have a 970,and i'm at a constant 60 until i hit a big city, then it drops to 55. Sounds like your system sucks. Learn to keep it clean and optimized, quit blaming games.

traumadisaster3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

That wasn't fair. Although he needs to do as you say, games and drivers are potentially to blame. As well as we don't know his cpu.

Maybe try helping by listing your ways to keep the system "clean."

reversial3832d ago

That could be the case, but that's not the issue here. In this day in age games should be multi-threaded. Especially when you consider that the consoles CPU's took a "go-wide" approach, having many cores with relatively low clock speeds. Developers should have enough experience with multi-threading now, as it is probably the most important part of getting a game to run well on the consoles.

Grap3832d ago

dude my PC is very clean i have i5 cpu which cause the problem go check their forums, the game is not very good optimized especially for i5 owners. even 60fps locked is not that great for this game, the game isn't an eye candy.

reversial3832d ago

Yeah, I agree wit you Grap. This stuff is getting old. I remember when Skyrim was hardly playable due to micro-stuttering. Bethesda's games suffer from the same set of issues every time.

I pass it as a bad port because the frame-rate is bound by your ram speed. Which has been the case in virtually no game in the past 10+ years. You could be running a 980 and an i7 and this game could still run at 45fps if you arent running decent quality ram.

Grap3832d ago

Yah when CPU is a bottleneck faster ram could help a lot. that's why you see big boost when you have faster ram.

Reefskye3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

Weird I have a 770 and older 2600k i7 and 8gb RAM never dips below 60fps for me, except for the institute few areas in there drop my FPS to around 35, not got the game fully maxed out though shadows are on high and object fade I left at default but everything else is on ultra. I do have it installed on an SSD though.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot186d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder186d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain186d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
