See the Differences Between Star Fox Zero at E3 and Now

Nintendo World Report TV recently did a comparison video between the footage then and now, in order to highlight the changes that have been made. While not everything lines up perfectly, it is fairly obvious that extra attention has been paid to improving the lighting and adding in higher resolution textures.

It does look better, not fantastic, but I think this game once we are used to it will be super fun.

S2Killinit3756d ago

Yeah. Its looking great and i think it will be loads of funs going by how good this game was in the past.

pcz3755d ago (Edited 3755d ago )

they did a great job saving this game. hopefully they can really make it shine by april.

the scary thing is that people were defending it before, even though it looked dreadful. even miyamoto came out with that BS statement that it was deliberately crap looking.

so much for that.

its scary that nintendo would have happily released a totally unfinished and unpolished game if nobody complained.

Concertoine3755d ago

Im not seeing the massive difference here. It still looks pretty bad, only a few effects were touched up. But that is to be expected from such a technically radical game.

"its scary that nintendo..."

Name any time Nintendo did this to the extent of ANY other big name developer out there, and that point will hold some relevance.

pcz3755d ago

its not a massive difference, especially going by the comparison video, but if you watch the nintendo direct trailer, it is noticeably better. i noticed right away. its approaching how i expected a starfox game this gen to look.

i bet nintendo had platinum under strict time constraints and wanted it finished for xmas. its definitely evident now that the game needed more time, even with just a few months more dev time it looks two times better to me.

i know nintendo arent ones to release broken or sub par games, that is why it was so shocking they were treating a highly respected franchise like starfox with seemingly little regard. luckily they came to their senses.

Concertoine3755d ago (Edited 3755d ago )

But the game wasn't due until Nov. 20

This is all progress that would have been seen on Nov. 20 anyway.

pcz3755d ago (Edited 3755d ago )

lol they obviously wouldnt be able to work right up to release date. the game would have to be finished long before then. even though its coming out in april, i imagine it will be finished by February, or march at the very latest. it will be going in to print and distribution/shipping etc

gamerb63755d ago

I agree and that would make them no different to Sony and Microsoft.

Nintendo is the one company we know that we can rely on for quality finished games that isn't filled with bugs and glitches.

I hope Nintendo don't start get lazy and let standards drop. I wouldn't buy an unfinished game from any company.

I will definitely be picking this up in April the graphics ain't like star wars battlefront unfortunately but I know the gameplay and content will more than make up for it.

It definitely looks much more polished than it did during its initial reveal.
Fox's fur doesn't look like it was just recently waxed, for one.XD

I'm excited to see if there's any changes to the story structure or if there are going to be any additional modes in the game aside from local MP and the single player campaign.

DivineAssault 3756d ago

The game still looks empty to me.. IDK what it is but something is missing from the world.. Nintendo games are usually more rich and dynamic.. It doesnt look bad but it looks plain.. Im sure it will be fun though.. Its like they took a wii game and remastered it.. I hope it gets much more polish before release

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

It was a wii game just like Pikmin 3

Concertoine3756d ago

I can guarantee you this is completely different code, this game is heavily reliant on the unique features of the Wii U and that's why it looks so minimalistic, not because it was a wii game.

DivineAssault 3755d ago

Yeah, i think the gamepad features and everything are why its like this.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3755d ago

yup. It the 120fps that made it look this. But the fact that it had improvements and still is 120fps.

If they werent going for the gamepad features then this game could had look better than both Xenoblade Chronicles X and Fast Racing Neo.

herbs3755d ago

Game is running dual screen locked 60fps double the render load from 2 view points much like VR. Graphical sacrifices had to be made. Game still looks much improved over the demo I played at PAX.

Some things look a bit better. Some things pointed out, to my eyes at least, just appear to be "different" without necessarily being better. Minor improvements are welcome, but I'm still pretty disappointed in this game visually. Has no effect on its ability to be a great game, but the big N feels like they fumbled the design on this one a bit.

Random: Takaya Imamura Ponders The Possibility Of Star Fox Zero On 'Switch 2'

It's a good ponder. Nintendo would be stupid to not do it. The more titles and first party line up released on the Switch 2 the more enticed the customer will be.

Star Fox Zero, Was it Really That Bad?

Has time been kind to Star Fox Zero? Does the game have any redeeming qualities that are worthy of revisiting? Should it be considered for a port to the Switch? Was it really that bad?

Haven't played it since it came out, but I really enjoyed it. Can't tell if that's just nostalgia-tinted glasses, or if I actually consider it a good game though lol.

Vits1579d ago

It's a mediocre game that reuses ideas, scenarios, characters and moments from previous ones. Paired with one of the worst control methods that I had the displeasure of using.

CptDville1578d ago

Those controls. Boring and frustrating at the same time. Only with co-op they were bearable, but co-op was restricted to finished levels.

SeTTriP1578d ago

Yes couldn't finish it it was so boring.

MissAubrey1578d ago

controls made me stop playing also what good is a 65inch tv when you have to look at a tiny Wiiu tablet.. same with kirby & the rainbow curse..

Einhander19711578d ago

No it was great, just the control scheme spoilt things really. The wii u screen was not needed for it really

But any potential design changes would be up to Nintendo if it happens.

I’d rather Star Fox Assault be brought to Switch with online multiplayer instead

Teflon021628d ago

Finally, someone who knows about Assault. Best Star Fox Multi-player imo.

Neonridr1628d ago

or a Star Fox 64 remaster instead.

deadfrag1628d ago

Platinum Games wants to many things but sadly it does not show nothing new for years! They try to jump on all offers but end finishing none!

whitbyfox1628d ago

1: Get rid of the motion controls.

2: Bring us Okami 3.

Good-Smurf1628d ago (Edited 1628d ago )

I rather have them show more of Bayonetta 3 first before they talking about any new project.
This reeks Inafune's funding for Red Ash and Mighty No.9 animated series, both never materialized.
