So DF says parity achieved booth versions have issues and ps4 has worst drops . The lesson from this is not to jump to conclusion DF first contact painted XB1 in a very different light causing confusion amongst buyers . Buy the game on system of preference both look the same and both have issues according to this report Ps4 has worse and lower drops during gameplay and has lowest recorded FPS out of the 2 versions. Is this parity? Ps4 handles alpha effects poorly and drops more frames according to their own report.

Those that gave NXgamer a hard time for his first contact owe him an apology he was correct. Both versions will get patched and their is no true winner here both have issues that need to be fixed. Be civil people :)

"The lesson from this is not to jump to conclusion DF first contact painted XB1 in a very different light causing confusion amongst buyers"

Well NX did the same thing.

But they both run equally as bad.

"Is this parity?"

Its the engine. I've seen much better performance from open world games with newer engines. Bethesda really needs a new engine.

freshslicepizza3760d ago

yes the engine could be better but once again this shows how the new consoles just don't really pack that big of a punch in terms of power. both were designed to be affordable and profitable at an early stage. microsoft took a huge hit on the first xbox which they sold at a loss. same thing with the ps3 for sony, they too took huge losses. this generation has been scaled back and the pc is already way ahead of the technical curve. it's just too bad most of the marketing goes into console gaming which is why the pc does not really have games that show off what it can really achieve.

Mega243760d ago

The engine has nothing to do with the weak hardware the consoles have.

I find it funny that everyone is always blaming the developer when the games might be a bit glitchy, but never blame the hardware. Always comparing the game to other open world games that have supposed "better graphics", but in reality those games are empty and boring.

The fact is, that MS and Sony cut corners to sell this consoles and gain some amount of profit.

Weak hardware is to blame here, not the developer.

dantesparda3760d ago

Why would the PS4 exhibit worst alpha performance than the X1 when its got much higher pixel fillrate? That is some shoddy a$s programming there. This reeks of a rush job on both consoles.

nveenio3760d ago

Every time I play The Witcher 3 on PC (max settings), I think, "Man, I wish the next Skyrim would look like this." But it probably won't. That being said, Fallout 4 on Ultra PC really isn't a bad at all. In some places, I've actually been impressed.

dirkdady3760d ago

" Fallout 4's stutters and hiccups only add to the trouble here, especially on Xbox One when switching weapons mid-fight. PS4 has its own struggles though, with effects-heavy battles taxing the hardware to a greater degree, despite holding a better frame-rate while traveling the world at large"

So ps4 better framerate overall but struggles during taxing battles like deathclaw and Xbox one has lower framerate overall and stutters when switching weapons and other scenarios but handles taxing deathclaw battles better.

Pretty much what the initial analysis was from NX and DF.

thekhurg3760d ago

This is just a continuing tradition of ALL Microsoft sponsored multiplatform games this generation performing better on the xbox one.

I swear, it's like they have some kind of optimization timed exclusivity on anything they get the advertising rights to. Then a few months post launch, there is a stealth patch by the developers to "fix" the PS4 issues...

Getting tiresome.

PS4 has its own struggles though, with effects-heavy battles taxing the hardware to a greater degree, despite holding a better frame-rate while traveling the world at large. And of course, our tests can't feasibly factor in the state of play with hundreds of hours on the clock - though we hope that lessons have been learned from Skyrim here."

They have different area where it drops. X1 still stutters to 0 fps. X1 has worse drops currently.

@LPEleven, Mega

Except that 95% of AAA games do show difference between consoles and look better than FO4.

FO4 isnt pushing graphical or hardware boundry.

Actually, reading the entire article offers the full picture, as both consoles suffer from stutters over the other at various points in the game. Thus, there really isn't any conspiracy to it. What they showed in the earlier analysis was the X1 had a very severe drop (the infamous "0 fps"), though again, I didn't see any conspiracy there.

The "parity" here is obvious, though. With most multi-platform games, it will be that way. Not playing to the strengths of either console, despite a concerted effort to make sure both games look and run well.

MasterCornholio3760d ago

"What they showed in the earlier analysis was the X1 had a very severe drop (the infamous "0 fps"), though again, I didn't see any conspiracy there."

Yeah and thats probably just a bug with streaming the assets from the HDD. But if something like that exists it should be mentioned just like Digital Foundary mentioned the FPS drops during the Deathclaw battle.

MCTJim3760d ago (Edited 3760d ago )

Though I agree with MC about mentioning it, DF should not have sensationalized it without further testing. Seems it was indeed a random bug in the code..just look at all the videos out there disproving it. They made it seem like it went to 0 FPS because the system couldn't handle it...sites wents viral with it. Then in comes NX in the exact same scenerio and nada. Then here comes DF to kinda say, yeah, we messed up..Yes they both suffer from frame rate and stutter....it was damage control. My OPINION, they should have done a better job in the first place and But all in all, the game is fun and I'm enjoying it.

MasterCornholio3760d ago (Edited 3760d ago )

@MCTJim

"They made it seem like it went to 0 FPS because the system couldn't handle it"

The problem here is that your getting DFs claims mixed up with what the fanboys were saying.

"It may only be momentary, but it sticks out like a sore thumb in direct comparison. The cause is also often very self-evident; even with an installation size of 28GB, assets are struggling to stream from Xbox One's HDD on cue. "

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

They never said the XB1 couldn´t handle the game. They just said that this terrible drop in FPS is due to a streaming issue with the HDD.

I suggest that next time you read their articles since you can learn a lot from them.

"Then here comes DF to kinda say, yeah, we messed up"

I just checked the updated article and they still say the same thing. Maybe its because its an issue with an XB1 with the stock hard-drive?

Anyways if you want my opinion on these comparisons. Its that i believe people are latching onto one or the other because it paints their system in a more positive light. Generally im seeing XB1 owners latch onto the NX comparison and PS4 owners latch onto the DF foundary comparison.

If you just ignore the differences between the two and just look at the similarity's you will come to the conclusion that the game runs badly on both systems.

Yetter3760d ago

when you have a drop to 0fps at the same place with very little going on, this isn't a framerate problem, its a bug, and it will be patched. Can't believe how many people jump to conclusions

LP-Eleven3760d ago

@ Yetter: I didn't jump to a conclusion - in fact, I was pointing out that were just showing how each game ran at that moment (funny that three people who disagreed with me "jumped to a conclusion" without really paying attention).

The poster I quoted actually didn't take in the info as it was presented. You should be commenting there if you're looking for incorrect assessments.

Yetter3760d ago

I wasn't referring to you, just the N4G community in general

no question PC is the definitive version here

MRMagoo1233760d ago

It's the only place to play fallout and elderscrolls games in my honest opinion. I haven't had a console Bethesda game in a long long time.

conanlifts3760d ago

Yeah as someone who owns all of the game consoles I am considering switching to pc in the future. Certainly next gen if the consoles don't up their game. I think this is the first console generation that I remember them not being on par with powerful pcs on day 1. They should have upped their price and put in more. Hardcore gamers are the ones who buy day 1 anyway and generally the majority would have paid an extra $50-100 for a more powerful console. The extra power also gives the consoles a few more years of life.

I guess the only issue with pcs is that unless I own all consoles I miss out on the exclusives.

magiciandude3760d ago (Edited 3760d ago )

I'll definitely have to get PC version during a Steam sale. As usual for most games, the PC version looks better than the console versions. There will be a massive collection of mods in a year from now that can make the game look even better!

@dreadz74

Digital Foundry just lost all the credibility they ever had with their earlier Fallout 4 videos. The smoke will only last so long before the dirty fraud becomes fully exposed in plain sight. I've invested over 24 hours into the game and never had any of those extreme framerate issues with the Xbox One version...

someOnecalled3759d ago

i find it weird people keep posting articles and talking about gfx with this game. look at the video is it worth having a comparison video when the game looks like this. for god sake it looks like s.t.a.l.k.e.r.s with mods and look how old that game is... wait stalkers maybe still have it beat. this is dumb. the game doesnt even look all that for all this gfx talk.

This is 100% Bethesda.

It just boggles my mind that there were actually some people who tried to console war with a Bethesda release.

Kratos02893760d ago

What is it with Bethesda and optimization?

generic-user-name3760d ago

They're just awful at the technical side of game creation, great with everything else though.

I remember reading years ago an interview with I think it was Howard, where he said they themselves don't feel like they're good game devs when they can't implement something like climbing a ladder (from what I can see in F4 so far, ladder climbing still isn't a thing, a weird issue) without a loading screen.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot111d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder111d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain111d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
