Fallout 4's graphics aren't exactly top-tier but how much does that matter in relation to other open world games? Does it really matter with regards to its gameplay?
Fallout 4 on Switch 2 offers 30fps, 40fps, and 60fps modes, with graphics settings differing from PS4 and PS5 versions.

Following Fallout 4's anniversary update, Nexus Mods have assebled an Anniversary Collection of existing mods designed to offer a free refresh as an alternative

A decade on from its Game of the Year-winning triumph, Todd Howard reminisces on how Fallout 4 changed Bethesda Game Studios, its TV show adaptation and playtesting The Elder Scrolls 6.
They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.
Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.
So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.
I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
Although the Fallout series has never been about graphics. The margin of quality is much wider with Fallout 4 than it was with Fallout 3 compared to other games released at the same time. The engine does really look out of date this time around.
Using what looks like a very marginally updated (considering the time span) version of the same engine that was used back on Morrowind or maybe even before, Is just lazy. You can't whinge & moan about COD repetitiveness & lack of new or even improved engine but not only forgive Fallout but praise it for having the exact same problem.
It's just all a little immature & silly in all fairness.
I assume this will be it's last outing & funding for a new engine for it's future titles as I can't see it realistically surviving another release.
Big big money is spent on games these days to make them stand out.
It all depends on where you want to invest that money to create the game you want.
It's a little unfair to compare the graphics to something like Hell blade, because that game is still in development when Fallout has been worked on for the last 5 years.
Also, Hellblade (as far as I'm aware) is not an open world, So by bring in everything close to the main character requires more detail.
Fallout's focus is on making the game world as interactive as possible. Yeah it would have been nice to make the graphics pretty. But people are still playing it and enjoying it.
I don't think spending all that money updating the engine and improving all the textures everything in the game would have helped increase the sales.
The game is fun and the graphics are OK.
Are you guys serious? Whilst the graphics aren't jaw-dropping, they are more than sufficient given the scope and scale of the game. In my opinion, the graphics are very good; the lighting is fantastic and it looks phenomenal at certain times of day and with weather effects. I will mention that I saw Fallout 4 on my friends LG TV, which is fairly averge and it made the game look lacklustre when compared to my Sony Bravia (with motionflow impulse enabled).
Honestly, the graphics are fine and look great, even if there are low-quality textures here and there. Quit your moaning and enjoy the game!
Lazy arse bethesda, the only thing that saves this game graphically is the lighting.
Textures, weather effects (not a single drop of rain hits the ground), animations all bad and that use of fog! Even in smaller indoor areas! Wtf?! Is this turok on the n64 ffs?!
