For all the criticism the Xbox One has received, it is evident that Microsoft is willing to listen to the fans and change its hardware to reflect what players want.
From ditching its digital-only strategy to removing Kinect from the package, Xbox has responded to the demands of its fans.
It’s still listening, too. This month, Microsoft is introducing a new UI to the Xbox One. It’s bringing in cross platform play with Windows 10. It’s even targeting pro-gaming with its premium and customisable Elite Controller.
That’s not all, either. Perhaps its most intriguing change is adding backwards compatibility functionality, allowing gamers to play 360 titles on their Xbox One.
Within weeks, the Xbox One will almost feel like a completely new console.
“We are on an on-going journey to listen to what fans want on how to make Xbox the very best place to play,” UK marketing director Harvey Eagle says.

Microsoft has promoted Harvey Eagle to director for Xbox Live product marketing.

"It's important parents take an active role in managing their children's access to online content and gaming," says director Harvey Eagle.
Really wish companies would do this more. Just about every system has such great controls for parents that anytime something with video games and kid's happens; the blame falls completely on the parent's for not implementing the controls. I mean you can even make a setting for how long they can play each day.

Xbox UK has warned consumers over week one shortages of its new X console as it kicks off its marketing campaign. "The Scorpio edition sold out in record time," UK boss Harvey Eagle tells GamesIndustry.biz.
Definitely hoping that this is a good sign for Microsoft and a possible resurgence of the Xbox family. I know I plan on getting one eventually, but just not sure when.
So psvr, the pro, switch and now the Xbox one x will have experience launch shortages. Interesting.
Just a cheap tactic to trick people into buying the console I suspect. If you dont hurry they will all be gone........yeah, I'll take my chances chief.
This just means greater competition. Yeah no way any gap will be closed globally, maybe in the US by a small margin with big-name releases but still, its good to see some competition. Makes a change from all the gloom and doom.
Backwards Compatibility is downplayed a lot but then read this:
“It really has ranked top in all of that list. If you were in the room at E3 when we announced it and saw the genuine response and surprise from the audience. It will prove popular, it’s a great value message for a 360 owner who is considering making a move to the new consoles."
He's right and it has topped the list for a reason, its why Sony spent a lot of money on PS Now for a reason.
MS are making a lot of steps in the right direction now; not enough to fix the damage done of course but as a gamer, you should at least feel some comfort in their future direction and the great lineup of games incoming. Lets hope they maintain that and don't forget us gamers in a hurry.
Is it really considered competition if I buy all the consoles?
If they had listened to there customers in the first place after there horrific Xbox One reveal then they wouldn't be trailing Sony Today
The feedback after that should have took Microsoft back to the drawing board, even if it meant delaying there launch.
I own both and i do admire Microsoft for trying to put things right, but seriously after that console reveal Sony Must have had the biggest party in the history of Gaming.
They even used the Xbox One reveal in there presentation and completely went the opposite way and won over a lot of Xbox Gamers.
There was a rumour that Sony was going to do a similar thing until the outcry from, Xbox fans
We will never know if this was the case though ?
