Never heard of that studio before, but I sure hope this remake is done well. System Shock is like the granddaddy for some shooters!

Sci-fi shooters owe a lot to this game.

Just want System Shock 2 proper remaster. Then a sequel, cause that cliffhanger was insane.

AnotherProGamer3785d ago

They should rewrite the ending

System Shock 2 had a unintended ending cause they told a studio to make the ending cutscene with a few details on it and made something Looking Glass did not want but they had no time to change it so they changed the ending to fit the cutscene

Inb4 the inventory management and such is changed, because of the controller needs. Depending on what they change about the game, this could definitely turn out terribly.

I thought EA owned the ip for 'System Shock'

VER1ON3785d ago (Edited 3785d ago )

There have been some issues regarding ownership between ea and the original dev if I recall.

From the article.

"According to the developer, they have acquired the full rights to the franchise, and Night Dive’s founder Stephen Kick is now working with the game’s original concept artist, to re-imagine the original 1990’s designs."

BartMoons3785d ago

Dived into it, but as it turns out the rights to System Shock stayed with its developer Looking Glass Studios. EA actually had the trademark to the series, but the company abandoned this in 2007.

To publish a new System Shock, one would need both the rights and the trademark to do so. As it turns out, Night Dive Studios has now obtained the full rights to the franchise.

System Shock remake for Switch 2, Switch launches December 18

The Switch 2 and Switch versions of the 2023-released System Shock remake will launch on December 18, developer Nightdive Studios announced.

It’s a real shame that Switch 1 was the primary focus. I’ve been waiting and hoping for this to drop on Switch 2. Looks like it’ll be getting a gimped version. Will have to see if I still pick this up or not..
