We consider price points, games, online services, and even bandwidth consumption to help you decide. Here's all you need to know."by Rishi Alwani

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.
This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.
This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.
I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet
Helix is going to be stupidly expensive
Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential
I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought
That's going to be ps6 vs Helix
It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs
Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

In an exclusive interview with Game File, new(ish) Xbox boss Asha Sharma and Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty explain their vision for Microsoft’s gaming division
A good start would be to release games to go with the console. My Xbox Series X has gathered dust virtually from launch. My advice would be to ditch a next console and release games on PC, PlayStation and Switch. Another idea would be a hybrid console based on Xbox Series X tech and go the same route as Nintendo. Another idea would be to pull out of gaming altogether. Plenty of options there.
Exclusive wise the Xbox has the edge for now. But if you are looking into having a good gaming entertaiment, you can't go wrong with either
Not one of these again.
If you prefer the Xbox One's lineup of games and features get that. If you prefer the PS4's lineup of games and features get that. If you can afford both and have the time to play both then get both. You can get plenty of worthwhile mileage from either.
However, might as well leave my thoughts, which should be obvious to those on this site:
- PS4 has more games currently
- PS4 has a more diverse lineup of games overall
- PS4 has way, way more upcoming games in 2016 with greater diversity
- PS4 has better rated games overall
- PS4 offers the option to experience a whole new way of playing games coming next year.
That's just better prospects to be honest. And it has the global market by the balls, with over 50% of the market share and growing so the game support will keep on getting better and better going forward.

Thanks for the agrees and support guys. It's good to see facts and logic not going over most folks' heads. Well some heads, but those heads are stubborn heads :D
@ Yarbie1000
Cool, that's fine. Except mine wasn't an opinion. It was my "thoughts" based on what is true. Everything I said about PS4 is true and are established facts at this point. I also never said that Xbox One DOESN'T have a diverse lineup of games, but that PS4 has a MORE diverse lineup and there is nothing wrong with admitting that, nor is that an opinion. It's measurable. It's levels of content measured against type of content. And PSVR games will be the nail in the coffin of that argument since most of these will be brand new kinds of experiences made specifically for the hardware, and you're not going to get those on XB1 unfortunately.
@ Tobsesan
That is not nearly a truly representative list for both consoles.
We could be here all day making a true list.
Can't go wrong with either at this point, both have had a fantastic 2015 and 2016 is already looking bigger & better for both systems
To put it simply, buy whichever system most of your friends are on and/or whichever system has more games that you want to play.
And if you can't decide, just do this!

There are PROs and CONs on both.
Honestly, you can't go wrong whichever you buy first. I would recommend them both because they both have games I want to play.
It gets even better in the long term.
Drown in all the games....
