What Was EA Thinking With Need For Speed?

AG from EGMR writes: "I really like Need for Speed, we're talking Carly Rae Jepsen levels of really liking something, but there are so many issues with it that beggar belief. Issues arising from elements and functions which shouldn't be there to begin with. It all left me a little sad because Need for Speed is just brimming with the energy and atmosphere that made Underground 2 such a timeless classic.

So really, what were EA and Ghost thinking with some of the things they did to this game? Get rid of them and I honestly believe that Need for Speed would be great."

Well EA didn't include a single player story mode so they wanted to cut overall costs which seems very lazy and greedy to me. It shortchanges the consumer as well which isn't cool, and then they will ask for money later on down the road for extras sigh!

Rivals was the last decent NFS. The best was Most Wanted (original).

EA is shrouded by money that they dont know how to bring back NFS. They only see the exterior that aligns with money, so they create empty shells of former games.

This is their last shot (already tried with Most Wanted) at NFS and they fucked it up.

Only played the beta.

All at night. Engine needs upgrading to day/night cycle badly.

Handling was not as good as most wanted or rivals imo.

City feels lifeless and I've noticed it in newer full game video's.

I would like to see most wanted 2 with what I said above.

... this series was dead to me ever since they gave up on the Hot Pursuit games.

Bought Codemasters .... absolutely mismanaging them the traditional EA way ...

Oh ea... Your ability to destroy everything you touch will never cease to amaze me. I guess Madden is still going but only because the people that play it are not very intelligent. That, or they're masochists that love getting screwed.

underground 1 and 2 are still the best ones.

And they're spent every game after that trying to chase that high and never meeting it

Makes you think if gamers are looking to relive nostalgia or each dev that has attempted to mimic the glory days are just incompetent?

DarXyde510d ago

Truth. Loved Midnight Club.

I wouldn't be mad at another proper Underground or Most Wanted (PS2/X360) entry though.
