Face-Off: Need for Speed - Dead heat?

Digital Foundry:
All of which leaves us with another discussion point in the great resolution debate. Back in February, we made the case that many of the titles we test with a 900p/1080p resolution differential look and play much the same, with the move towards improved anti-aliasing and more advanced post effects closing the gap still further. Need for Speed bears this out quite nicely - PS4 inches ahead due to the extra clarity provided by the native 1080p resolution, but there's nothing you're really likely to actually miss, especially during fast action gameplay. In this sense, the two games are effectively identical - an already soft game on PS4 looks just a little softer on Xbox One.

So Ps4 have:

Higher Res
Better Textuers streaming
Better Ambient Occlusion
Same FPS

So nothing shocking like most of the time then.

Nothing new here. Again. Every gamer knows that in 3rd party version for consoles is better on the ps4. The difference isnt just a bit more grass like last gen

cartoonx13866d ago

if u actually check the article, difference is not tht big this time. so during racing(which this game is about) you will hardly notice any difference between two.

Dario_DC3866d ago

I still remember that a 65 pixel difference was a clear winner for the 360... Now 44% more pixels ammounts to almost no difference... Man times have changed.

I understand that technically third party games on PS4 are superior, however my gaming pc's blow my XB1 away technically (and PS4 for that matter), yet I never think I'm losing out playing games on my XB1.
In fact, I love the games on my XB1.

sadsatan3866d ago

it's a shame because i was looking forward to this game - the online only aspect, and lack of daytime has put me right off

Cannot wait for the 4k/60fps PC version. Good things come to those who wait.

I've noticed that every single pc gamer here on N4G has some amazing rigs. All 4K/60fps, or even 144fps and stuff... I still play at 900p, or less, on mine.

You need a newer $250-300 mid range GPU and you will be playing newer games at least in 1080p/60fps quite easily provided you have a decent enough CPU to not bottleneck the GPU too much.

But with $650+ high end GPUs you will be getting 3k/4k/60fps and if you have two of them you can get 144 fps.

Its not that hard to achieve those numbers without robbing a bank.

Ezz20133866d ago

Agreed, I don't have amazing rig
I think it's mid-range rig or even low rig by now
but I play all my games at high setting at 1080p 30-50fps
I play Witcher 3 at high setting 1080p with 40-50fps
only having trouble with Batman Arkham Knight
because the stutter not the FPS which is fine

But that's because i have a complete crap CPU though that i need to change soon and it's a crap port.

bluebenjamin3865d ago

I don't but becacause mine cost a little over 500$.It still run games at higher settings than ps4 so I'm happy.

Bought Codemasters .... absolutely mismanaging them the traditional EA way ...

Oh ea... Your ability to destroy everything you touch will never cease to amaze me. I guess Madden is still going but only because the people that play it are not very intelligent. That, or they're masochists that love getting screwed.

underground 1 and 2 are still the best ones.

And they're spent every game after that trying to chase that high and never meeting it

Makes you think if gamers are looking to relive nostalgia or each dev that has attempted to mimic the glory days are just incompetent?

DarXyde529d ago

Truth. Loved Midnight Club.

I wouldn't be mad at another proper Underground or Most Wanted (PS2/X360) entry though.
