Fallout 4 Will Show Which Critics Put a Premium on Graphics

Many have complained about Fallout 4’s graphics ever since the game was revealed and if it’s lackluster, we’ll see which critics put more emphasis on visual quality.

TacticAce3859d ago

So you are saying that if the game gets a bad rating that means they dont like the graphics? Even if they bring up other legit reasons it was bad?

porkChop3859d ago

That is not in any way what they're saying. They're talking about reviewers who put a big focus on graphics in their Fallout 4 reviews.

generic-user-name3859d ago

I don't know about everyone else but for me, when you're playing a new game, and it's visuals aren't up to scratch with other current games, then I'll notice it and it'll take away from the experiece.

freshslicepizza3859d ago

they are saying graphics matter to a degree but the game should not be all about graphics. this is why games like ryse and the order 1886 failed because all really people talked about were the graphics. the games themselves were hollow.

FrostXVenom3859d ago

I enjoyed both RYSE AND 1886,both games have high production values....
People say fallout is all about gameplay

but in this gen you need to put gameplay along with graphics to get the max out of any game.

Thats where games like Batman,Wither 3 and few others come in.

Magnes3859d ago

I'm all for it if upgraded graphics are not an issue then I expect to keep these console for 10+ years, that said from what I've seen the game looks pretty good

themonado3859d ago (Edited 3859d ago )

I thought the same thing initially, but I'm sure they're talking about the actual review, not the score

OhMyGandhi3859d ago (Edited 3859d ago )

You bring up an excellent point.
I loved Fallout 3 and New Vegas...But this is Bethesda we are talking about, people.
If they have the ability to make these massive, expansive, fully interactive worlds to wander through, they certainly have the manpower to implement better visuals.

If it comes down to CHOOSING if I want gameplay/story or graphics, of course I'm choosing the former, but in this day and age, why do I have to choose to begin with?

I'll buy, and most likely love Fallout 4, But let's just say, that the pc modders have their work cut out for them.

gaming snobbery. fallout 4 will be an amazing game and will look good doing it. if you want incredible graphics in a placid game, pick up something like The Order.

the main character is the spitting image of Dermot Mulroney from the Insidious 3 movie. http://i.picpar.com/Uv9b.pn...
That is so weird.

LAWSON723859d ago

Their main character mine and mostly everybody else's will look completely different

IndieStation_43859d ago

Where did all the fallout fans come from? That's all I hear about everywhere I go. I played Fallout 3 and it was alright at best. Whatever though...

Whitefox7893859d ago

Theirs certain groups of Fallout fans.

There is the fans of the new games, there's the fans of the first two games maybe Brotherhood of Steel as well (they are currently getting their fill with Wasteland 2), and then there are the fans that like all of them.

I find myself in the last category Wasteland 2 is awesome btw.

RomanPSX3859d ago

Fallout 3 was alright?!? Dude gtfo. Go play something else, you don't deserve to play this game.

PreAtaric3859d ago

Fallout 3 was one of the most overrated games last generation, in my opinion. No game is for everyone.

"you don't deserve to play this game."

First of all, that's silly. Secondly, why would he care if he doesn't have much interest in the game?

OT - I just hope this Fallout is more like the originals in some ways. For me, Wasteland 2 is a better Fallout game than FO3 and NV were. Because of those last two, this new one isn't a day one purchase.

sullynathan3859d ago (Edited 3859d ago )

They aren't all Fallout fans, they're Bethesda fans.
Ever since Bethesda bought Fallout, fans of both series have basically become indistinguishable because Bethesda has made the gameplay from both series indistinguishable.

Dr_Angus3859d ago

the graphics shouldnt matter to the reviewer if everything else is superb

Whitefox7893859d ago

I personally think we have come to a good point regarding graphics in games. I believe its time we start putting a little more effort into the gameplay. :)

Perjoss3859d ago

Agreed, more focus on things like AI, sound design and writing

sullynathan3859d ago (Edited 3859d ago )

I would hope that a reviewer would criticize a game with poor textures and animation whether it is open world or not.

This is 2015 for gods sake. Why would a critic excuse this? I also hope that if the game is incredibly buggy at release, that "critics" don't just excuse it again.

Big_Game_Hunters3859d ago

I agree, if one of the biggest thing about your game is exploring the world, it better look good.

lunatic00013859d ago

As much as I love bethesda.. They do have a habit of releasing buggy games which is always excused by reviewers

lsujester3859d ago

True, but I imagine a large part of that is that the reviewers may not find a lot of bugs. They have to play it relatively fast, or not really get to play everything in order to get the review out. While Bethesda games always have bugs, you can easily do a playthrough and not find many if you don't really explore.

lunatic00013858d ago

@ Isujester

I agree with you 100% dude...its crazy though how some games get away with it while other games get punished for it but you are right though all the way

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot201d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder201d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain201d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
