i would be fuming.
that looks so cheap and tacky.
why have they used that type of plastic??

i would return it if i had bought it,no matter how much of a fan.

frostypants3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

Did anyone expect anything OTHER than a cheap plastic phone holder? That's all it ever looked like. Why do people still get shocked when pack-in bonus stuff turns out to be crap? It's always crap.

If interest is high enough, maybe a 3rd party will make a good one.

mxguy933847d ago

@frostypants. Well i wouldn't say every pack in stuff is crap. The night vision goggles from mw2 were awesome and worked. And the rc car from bo2. But anyways if anyone is gonna cancel their pipboy edition let me know. I want it. Lol

joab7773847d ago

It's exactly what I thought it would be. They could have made a legit one and charged $499 for it, but how realistic would that be. Maybe they could have offered both.

It's still a replica that actually works. Still one of the coolest editions I've seen.

lsujester3848d ago

I don't think anyone was realistically expecting a super high quality piece of machinery here. You're basically looking at sixty bucks for the Pip-boy and case.

Personally, if I don't like the look of mine, I'll try to find a local artist who can make it looked distressed. Maybe try to match that mini-nuke PC collection I bought.

UKmilitia3847d ago

seriously?
it looks like its brand new and that cheap brittle plastic.
it looks like a copy rather than how i would expect the legit one to look.

it should be slightly worn looking imo.

To each his own. I'm super excited about my Pip-Boy Edition. As a huge Fallout fan, I just simply couldn't pass it up.

Neonridr3848d ago

I was really disappointed when I missed the boat on the preorders, getting one in Canada was tough as there were few options to preorder. Having watched a few unboxing videos now, I might be ok with not having it. I mean to be honest, it definitely isn't worth the $250+ scalper prices, and it's not like I am going to sit there playing the game with this thing on my arm, I can only imagine what that would look like.

But for those who did get it, I hope you enjoy it or display it with pride.

I think I will be happy with just getting the game now and having my phone handy with the app installed.

chippychan3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

I agree.

I just gave the pip-boy app a quick try and I think it's great. So what I've decided to do is take one of my armband iphone holders (originally intended for listening to music while running) and I'm going to strap it to my forearm and make my own little make-shift pip-boy for my gaming marathon, lol.

So dorky, I know, but I can't wait. :P

-Foxtrot3848d ago

Still getting it but I do think they should have made it a little more expensive (Destiny got away with a £150 edition) and included a better made Pipboy with an actual screen running the Pipboy app.

Main thing I don't like about it is that the Pipboys material is the same as the material from the case. Looks like it was cut from the same material or something

dumahim3848d ago

Yeah, they charged more on Destiny, but cheaped out on the packaging and most of the boxes were torn even before the retailers got them.

MrSwankSinatra3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

I don't know what you people we're expecting? It's been evident from the beginning that it was just overpriced cheap ass plastic w/ a steelbook.

Perjoss3848d ago

I think some people were expecting a real fully functional Pip-Boy, complete with a button for mending broken limbs and fast travel to easily get home from work and stuff.

Kidmyst3848d ago

I was not expecting much, but this is actually better than I thought it'd be. I had too low of hopes for some really crappy thing but besides the color which I can re-paint, I'm excited to get it. The other problem I see is my 5 Year old will see it and want to run around the house with it while hunting down "bad guys" with his Star Wars blaster.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot190d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder190d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain190d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
