Destructoid writes: "Even though id co-founder John Carmac is currently playing Super Paper Mario with his son, he knows the technological boundary is far too vast to develop for the platform. In a recent interview with TomsGames, Carmac essentially closes the doors on the potential of Wii development by citing Tech 5's brawn and the current market surrounding the Nintendo console.
'Well, id Tech 5 will not work on the Wii…The Wii is one of those markets where Nintendo owns both the hardware and the software, but part of that is because they make such damn good products. So it's the toughest platform for third party developers. We don't have a software or content base ideally suited for it. So it doesn't really play to our strengths and we're pretty busy with other stuff right now…I don't think we'll be on the platform.'
I think any Wii owner can easily see Carmac's point. Rage certainly wouldn't look or perform anywhere near well. Despite his comments, I would really like to see id attempt an original title on the Wii. I'm not calling for Wolfenstein (that'd be amazing) but it would be nice to see what id could have us waggling our controllers for."

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.
I've got a 360 for my graphic whore needs, and my Wii for everything else!
" but part of that is because they make such damn good products. So it's the toughest platform for third party developers"
...That comming from a developer...low self-esteem?
Instead you try and make something "awesome" you will never know now can you?
But you are busy, so its ok. XD
He just doesn't feel like it, perfectly fine. The goals within his company are more tech and pushing the limits, and I would understand that. :)
Is that he doesn't make some excuse.
Dup: http://www.n4g.com/News-181... Says right there "In a recent interview with TomsGames".
Either way, this guy would be wasted on the Wii.
