Performance Analysis: Batman on PC is still a disappointment

Digital Foundry:

"Arkham Knight is back on sale - but it's still nowhere near good enough."

I fully blame WB.

Bought A Asylun and A City - both awesome. I then bought Arkham Origins. Day one I got stuck at a glitched airvent and had to wait a few weeks for a patch that fixed it. Once fixed, and hour later into the game I got stuck at a glitched door in a room I couldn't get back out of - progress stopped again.

I emailed WB and they replied saying they'd finished patching the game and were now only working on DLC. I replied back saying well where is the point in me buying your DLC if I can't progress in the game to actually use it? They never got back to me.

As a result of this I obtained A Knight free from dubious sources - just in case. Was a wise decision after this latest consumer shafting exercise.

Played and finished it on my PS4 - kinda "meh" overall tbh - using a borrowed mate's copy. WB will be getting no more money out of me.

SHOCKING business from a games company, ESPECIALLY with such a highly regarded franchise.

I sometimes feel tempted to get into the PC Gaming scene ...

But with so many PC games suffering poor optimization & bug issues...Consoles have issues too, but nothing like PC. Plus, a decent PC that runs 1080p/60fps High/Ultra settings can be (initially) costly. Also, PC versions seem to release months after the Console versions in too many cases.

I gotta say ...all that deters me /

I got into PC gaming before all this crap started happening, I never thought I'd own a console again.

But then too many games i'd buy started having major bugs, freezes, performance issues etc. I got tired of dealing with it

Nowadays I'll play all AAA games on my PS4 and only buy a few PC exclusives, and some older games that won't have performance issues on PC

What other games besides Arkham Knight are bad? Name some.

The lack of xfire and sli support is the most dissapointing. Can't get that magical 4k/60fps without it!

I would also add Risk of Rain 2 as long as you don't stray too far from a power source as each run can be long as the hours melt away. Another thing to note is that based on the reports, the FPS may drop into the 40s if a lot of enemies are on the screen.

There is also the Half Life series. If you haven't played half-life before then you can do so now at the super low price.

Mafia was amazing looking and had a great story. Played flawlessly at 30fps as well without dips 99% of the time.

The same is true for Jedi Fallen Order

Sony games as also on sale. Picked up Rachet and Clank, cant wait to try it!
