I thought it was a bit disappointing. LiS has been one of my favorite games in recent years, but ep5 was lacking compared to ep4.

Seems like everything got too complicated all of a sudden and it was very disconnected from everything that happened in previous episodes. The motivations of the killer were also pretty ridiculous.

I've noticed this is often a problem in game story writing. Sometimes game stories start out simple and effective, then all of a sudden you end up in an alternate universe and everyone's going insane and the floor is building up under your feet and there's weird magic stuff and echo-y voices everywhere. I hate when this happens. It's better to keep a well-written emotional ending than to try to impress with a weird "mindf*ck" ending that spins out of control. TWD2's kenny endings are a great example of how to do it right

Chaos Theory was hinted at throughout all the episodes. It was rather easy to guess that Chloe would have to die in order to fix everything.

Also, psychopaths don't necessarily need a great motivation. Dunno if you ever read stories about real serial killers but normal people would usually perceive them as ridiculous.

Then again, I agree that the writing was better in the previous episodes. This one seemed to have been rushed.
