Eh. It's not really a surprise to me. It's far to common to see AAA games with them nowadays and to be honest, it'll be a surprise for me to hear that an EA or Ubisoft game didn't have microtransactions.

HaveSumNuts3860d ago

Not only is it an online only (no campaign) fully priced game but it has microtransactions as well. Can gamers please stop supporting this. It seems like ever since the success of Titanfall, we've been getting more of these types of games with online only no campaign but now microtransactions on top of it. Funny how gamers make fun of mobile games yet triple A games are coming out at $60 online only with a f2p mobile game like structure. Who ever buys Rainbow Six is basically encouraging the industry that we are ok buying games like this and you are not a true gamer if you do.

s45gr323859d ago

Amazingly though no coupons, loyalty program, rewards program for gamers for we are corporate slaves

EveryPlatformGamer3859d ago

Agree so much sadly these brain dead gamers of today r too stupid to realize we are being screwed!! Its disgusting what the big publishers are doing and its only gonna get worse!!

When will these gamers wake up?? Look at your dissagree's, it says it all.
Corporate slaves who like being abused and will defend the abuser like a loyal servant.
Mouth breathing Morons who lack a brain, sadly this is the norm with gamers of today. :(

KiwiViper853859d ago

only the people spending money on micro transactions are being screwed. and if they don't realise they are being screwed them they deserve to be screwed. microtransactiond don't affect me...

hiredhelp3859d ago (Edited 3859d ago )

Listen to me from old git gamers point of view here, I disagree with microtransactions its corporate greed at best but its growing fab money making scheme.
But lets not hate on a game because of this as this wouldnt be a devs choice you think money goes to devs hell no.
By boycotting these games Is ok but your right too many wont and sadly on this IP im one but not for microtransactions, also by doing so makes all that hard work devs do to nothin.
As for online only yeh agree be nice have singleplayer but many online only games that have made it big thats not inc MMO.
Microtransactions there a option like gta shark cards there not needed really unless you want to boost your way to getting something.
So lets not downplay a game that could be great anyways dudnt they say they given free maps too after launch supporting game not just DLC that be devs doing that.
Im buying it cos I love the mechanics working as a team the Ai tweaked act like a real gamer but take thoes bloody bombers out ha ha.

@LonDoneE

Part of the problem is that a lot of these gamers are kids and young teenagers that either started gaming last gen or this gen when these types of practices started happening. They weren't gaming in an era where this crap didn't happen so these shady business practices are perfectly normal to them. Gamers of today have been indoctrinated to accept these types of shady business practices as being the 'norm' because they were born into it.

But to gamers like myself that started gaming during the PS1/Saturn days, these practices are not normal to us because we started gaming in an era where all this bullsh*t didn't happen.

It's sucks but sadly as each generation goes by it's only going to get worse and worse. We are in a transitional phase in the gaming industry where these shady business practices are becoming the norm now.

creeping judas3859d ago

Microtransactions are not going to go away no matter how much you put other gamers down, or the corporations that put them into their games.

But that being said, we have this amazing ability, and that ability is free will. If you don't like MT's then don't buy them, if you do like MT's then by all means buy them. It's an amazing thing because we can choose to buy them or not buy them!

freshslicepizza3859d ago

"Who ever buys Rainbow Six is basically encouraging the industry that we are ok buying games like this and you are not a true gamer if you do."

get outta here with that nonsense. a true gamer, what does that even mean?

people will buy what they enjoy, sorry. if a game is centered around playing with others online i have no problems with them making online only games. what i do have issues with is the milking of dlc even though i know why they do it because of high costs to make games compared to the generation of that so called true gamer you keep suggesting.

shadowknight2033859d ago

Ubisoft is about to feel a big hurt after the release of this game. I wobt be supporting this game.

ion6663859d ago

You can blame the P.C. crowd for that. Paying people to farm for you, and Counter strike.Paying hundreds of dollars for a rainbow knife.

Kidmyst3859d ago

The game should have 2 options, full price where you by default get good weapons, armor and such, or free where you get basics and then have micro transactions. I will not pay $60.00 for a game then pay more on top of it. I also stopped buying DLC map packs years ago, don't pay for season passes and such. So many great games to play and try to keep up as it is.

AbleAmazing3859d ago

Newsflash: You don't get to decide that single-player only games are worth more or less than multiplayer-only games.
And stop with the true gamer bullshit. You're a nobody, just like me. Take your economic vote and let everyone else take theirs.

PreAtaric3859d ago

Ahhh, more of this "If you don't agree with me you aren't a true gamer" bs.

Vomit.

Buy what you want. Skip what you want. If other people buy what you don't want, try not to have a stroke.

zidane13413859d ago

You can't blame that on Titanfall. It didn't do anything any other fps did before as far as dlc. They had map packs, and a bunch of free content, eventually making the maps even free. Titanfall didnt even have micro transactions. Not to mention titanfall didn't sell a whole hell of a lot so it couldn't popularize anything.

garrettbobbyferguson3859d ago (Edited 3859d ago )

"Can gamers please stop supporting this"

That ship has sailed long ago. And it's only going to get worse. Also, a reminder to people who say "If you buy what you want", Microtransactions directly affect the people who don't purchase them. Didn't buy that booster pack? Have fun grinding that weapon out for 12 hours while the player who used their parent's credit card gets to whoop your ass with it immediately.

Thepro3183859d ago

u didnt cry when warhawk an socom confrontation came out

BattleAxe3859d ago

Both Rainbow Six Siege and Star Wars Battlefront are completely off my radar now. If they sell these games for around $20.00 at some point, like EA did with Titanfall, then I'll get in on these games.

just_looken3859d ago

If we keep it supporting all this the next step is charge by the level/item and minute be back to the arcade days but need $60-$80 for the disc.

hiredhelp3859d ago

I agree online only games should be cheaper valid point.

Erik73573859d ago

As you see,the wild gamer is a very easy prey to wallet rape and screw over.

joaovictorop3859d ago

At least all future DLC maps will be free, and not taxed like COD and Battlefield. So the community will not be divided and everyone will stay together.

MehmetAlperTR3859d ago

No single player no buy from me... dont care about microstractions.. cause i dont play online..

bmf73643859d ago

It's either going to go the Pay2Win route with weapons and unlocks or the CS:GO clone route of weapon cosmetics.

showtimefolks3859d ago

it's UBI so i am not at all surprised, they do these sort of things just like EA. Gamer will keep supporting these practices and publishers know that

speak with your wallets they say until its their favorite game

just look at destiny for example, it's amazing to me how bungie has charged over 140 dollars yet gamers keep defending it. don't y'all see that other publishers take notice of stuff

the term shut up and take my money applies here perfectly

gamers are the biggest hypocrites, they will hate on a gaming series like COD for example but than turn right around and buy/defend these sort of practices when it comes to their favorite games

battlefield 4 launched broken and incomplete yet got very good review scores and sold well

assassin creed unity launched broken and incomplete yet somehow these gaming journalists gave it very good review scores and it sold well enough

if we don't change and i know we won't(been a gamer for over 25 years) than get use to these sort of practices. content is cut from the game to be later sold as dlc

forza 5 launched with a lot less content than forza 4 yet it was a next gen title but guess what it did have that $60 season pass or wait a year for GOTY(meaning the actual full edition)

look at stars wars deluxe edition

this hobby keeps getting more expensive yet the bang for the buck is going down yearly

AlphaKennyOne3859d ago

2015 and people are still buying Ubisoft games? Probably the same people who buy from EA. Microtransactions are killing games imo.

Not like it was on everyone's list. Game has potential but the beta was meh. Next time they just need a more complete game. Crazy how they sale games like these at 60$ and in top of that have micro transactions like if they weren't ripping us off to begin with

warrendeath3860d ago

I think a decent amount of people were looking forward to this game. This will definitely hurt sales, especially with the already stupid built in pay structure.

JackEffinBlack3859d ago

@dboyc310

I don't care if the beta was all milk, honey, and sex. I'm not supporting games with microtransactions/online-only/ no single player ever again. PERIOD.

just_looken3859d ago

So $80 Canadian for a game that runs on peer 2 peer connection always online 24/7 drm no single player bland mp with old game modes and the old terrorist hunt thrown in is fine we should embrace this?

F that.

esemce3859d ago

You forgot to add that it looks like a last gen game and runs at a low framerate most of the time, F that indeed.

alfcrippinjr3859d ago

i think we wont be getting online 24/7

game should had been campaign ready

it is not worth $80

games worth that type of money

just cause 3
the wilderness
black ops 3

die_fiend3859d ago

Any one who didn't play the beta might actually buy this. I was HYPED for this game, but having played the beta, this isn't going to go well.

Battlefront on the other hand showed surprising quality and apparently won't have microtransactions. Just a $50 season pass of undisclosed content.

KiwiViper853859d ago

your a hypocrite to blast rainbow six, yet praise battlefront.

your part of the problem buddy.

die_fiend3859d ago

How does that make me a hypocrite? Do you know what that word actually means? Seems like English isn't your strong suit.

Did you actually play both games? Me and a whole bunch of other people did...Battlefront was good, Siege was poorly paced and unexciting.

_-EDMIX-_3859d ago

@Die_fiend- That is a subjective idea, some might like Siege more then Battlefront, but thats your choice.

@Kiwi-? Wrong on so many levels its not even funny.

You can like one game over the other, "part of the problem"? What problem is that?

Is he free to not like one game over another?

People play games because thy are fun...they are not buying them based on some sort of politcal view.

I'm buying games because I want to have fun, not because I'm fighting for some just cause.

I don't buy games based on the idea of (no dlc or free dlc, or season pass) etc.

If it has it...thats nice.

If it doesn't.....thats nice lol

I mean...are you not playing games for fun anymore? You can like both, you can like one over the other, you can hate both.

What he doesn't like about Rainbow Six is what is making him not buy it.

What he likes about Battlefront is what is making him buy it....thats it.

"but having played the beta, this isn't going to go well"

"but having played the beta, this isn't going to go well"

"but having played the beta, this isn't going to go well"

and...

"but having played the beta, this isn't going to go well"

Thus its based on what he has "played" that has made him make this choice.

I'm sorry Kiwi people do actually play games for fun, not for political messages to establishments lol

die_fiend3859d ago

Thanks for the response EDMIX.

Obviously each to their own. What I'm trying to say is that prior to playing them, I was very much sold on Siege and cautious of Battlefront. But I don't hear many people at all saying they were satisfied after playing the beta of Siege. The concept is great, and the gunplay is fine, it's just the pacing of it that feels off.

Battlefront was immediately fun though, straight out of the box.

But yeah, what 'problem' are you talking about? I'm paying money for games I like, regardless of publisher or whatever evil practice conspiracy you're busy worrying yourself about.

PreAtaric3859d ago

Kiwi - We all buy something that someone else thinks is a waste of money. Your "problem" is capitalism and the free market at work. Good luck beating your head against that wall.

esemce3859d ago

My Hype was near killed by both the Rainbow and BF betas, thanks for the heads up EA and Ubi.

Here we go again. Another game to skip or wait for a huge sale.

warrendeath3860d ago

Thanks for the approval! Now if more people did this so we can get after Ubisoft!

Intentions3860d ago

Eh not surprising, already skipping this game because it doesn't have a campaign, plus the beta was pretty average imo.

Workers approve settlement over Ubisoft Halifax closure

HALIFAX (April 14, 2026) – Laid-off Ubisoft workers in Halifax have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a settlement with the video-game giant. The terms of the settlement, including the compensation employees will receive, is confidential.

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
