Shenmue 3 Progress Update To Come Next Week

More details on how Shenmue 3's development is progressing will be coming next week, according to the game's official Twitter profile

DillyDilly3871d ago

"We are still working on it & I still need money"

You heard it here first

Crimzon3871d ago

Yup.

Just wait, they'll announce a Shenmue 4 as well, saying that they simply couldn't fit all the story into Shenmue 3 and need to make another game. Obviously, that one will need crowdfunding as well.

Krimmson3871d ago

Shenmue 3 was never meant to be the last game in the series. Suzuki has constantly said that he wanted there to be many Shenmue games, at least 5 of them.

S2Killinit3871d ago

I hope they DO make Shenmue 4. And i would donate to that as well just like i did with Shenmue 3.

Spotie3871d ago

I swear it's like some people have no clue about stuff, but just wanna comment anyway.

Shenmue 3 wasn't supposed to be the last chapter, anyway. Yet when and if they announce the next game in the series, you'll be crowing from the rooftops about how you were right, COMPLETELY oblivious to that game being in the cards before you made your silly little prediction.

gangsta_red3871d ago

So will they'll be a kickstarter for Shenmue 4?

DigitalRaptor3871d ago (Edited 3871d ago )

Buddy....

Suzuki-san already has revealed this not long after E3. The grand plan was 16 chapters, now condensed into 11 chapters, and shoving the rest of those chapters into one game would be a travesty, when the next game was only meant to be based in one region (Guilin, China): http://uk.ign.com/articles/...

Shenmue IV will only be a thing, if fans like Shenmue III. He said it himself. http://www.dualshockers.com...

That's a tough one to swallow, but notice how he says "fans", you know... actual die hards. The ones who know the games inside out, its DNA, and have anticipated and supported a Shenmue revival for years. The ones who really, all-in-all would like to have a continuation in any form possible, but particularly a game that provides them with the same experiences as the original games, but with updated visuals and controls.

So that means fans, and doesn't mean misinformed and vitriolic "gaming journalists" like Ben Kuchera complaining that the game doesn't have the open-world standards of Sleeping Dogs, drivable cars or fetch quests, and nitpicking things that are so out of touch with what fans want from a sequel to a 14 year old series, or even make sense in the context of the story or themes.

HeartlessGamer3871d ago

smashman983871d ago

Nah atleast not gameplay I think he said they won't be able to show off the actual game till next year but even a neat little trailer would be cool

Only so much time in life so hopefully it gets finished before it’s too late

CrimsonWing69549d ago

I think that’s the problem. Just give us a conclusion like we were hoping for with 3 instead of basically pulling a Shenmue 2 on us and leaving it all in limbo again,

Agent75549d ago

No trilogy collection? All the years Sega knocked out Shenmue clone Yakuza, yet took years to release Shenmue 3 on PS4 only. Was made waiting all those years after Shenmue 2 on Dreamcast.

Rynxie548d ago

Sega had nothing to do with shenmus 3.

Nerdmaster548d ago (Edited 548d ago )

And they think it's a positive thing?
Potential new fans won't be interested in future sequels because they would need to know the story of all the previous games.
Old fans who were burnt by 3 (like me) won't be interested in the next ones. Especially if they are fillers like 3 is.

The truth is, Yu Suzuki threw away his golden oportunity of finishing the saga in a dignified way. Old fans were thirsty for its conclusion and they got good money on Kickstarter.
Now that they made 3 with some of the worst game design decisions in any modern game, and made the plot be a useless filler, a Kickstarter for 4 would probably fail badly, and the shameful sales of 3 won't convince any publisher to put good money on a sequel.

Never say never, I really didn't expect to ever see Space Marine 2 and 12 years later its almost here.
So there is still hope for all these games.

Chocoburger835d ago

I've completed 5 of the games on the list, but the author forgot to include Advent Rising. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but it bombed hard, and the two sequels never got made. It was Mass Effect, a console generation before Mass Effect.

The game is buggy and unpolished, it needed a few more months of development, but the potential was there. At the end of the game, you have all these super abilities, I remember the stomp attack that created a shockwave being especially powerful.

shinoff2183835d ago

I personally think days gone will recieve some sort of sequel at some point. I'm personally also hoping it's not the rumored multiplayer online stuff. I'd think most that enjoyed it would rather thisnto.

Knightofelemia835d ago

Sony needs to dust off Sly Cooper and Days Gone so needs a sequel two of my favorite Sony titles. Bulletstorm I love great game wish it also got a sequel. And I wish Namco would finally give Enslaved a sequel another great game.
