Oculus: 'Every Single' Signed Dev is Working on/Pitching Second Titles

VRFocus reports on Oculus VR stating that 'every single' developer that it's signed to work with is either creating of pitching a second VR videogame.

Ok so it's officially VR is the next step in gaming not matter what hater said or says.

As someone who has had an Oculus DK2 for 1 year, I highly disagree

uth113921d ago

"And many developers, some of them quite large, well known developers, have said “Listen, we’re winding down our other contracts over time, we’re all-in on VR.” Not a single developer that I’ve worked with has said “After this game, I think I’m going to go back to doing something else."

Sounds fishy. Developers go where the money is. I doubt many would go "all-in" on VR until it takes off..

As developers, I just think this new frontier is exciting for them. I can't think of a time when I have seen so many developers excited to created content for something that technically isn't released yet. But seeing how enthusiastic they are, it kinda makes me excited to see what they come up with.

someOnecalled3920d ago

You mean publishers think like that. I'm sure they want to make money but I'm pretty sure they want to play around with this and see what they can make. I think it's gonna be a niche market not a lot of people will be willing to put these on.

uth113920d ago

well whether it's developers or publishers calling it, the fact is that they will produce what the market can sell, not what tickles their own fancy.

vr for gaming what a total gimmick
it already been tried once and it was a flop.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook71153d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt1153d ago (Edited 1153d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal1153d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow1153d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal1153d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt1153d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.
