What's bad about Battlefront?

STN:

The Star Wars Battlefront beta is pretty great in my honest opinion, however it’s not without its issues and this is something that we’d like to focus on in this article, after all, it is a beta and the whole point of a beta is to iron out the issues in the hope of a smooth launch. So what is wrong with Battlefront?

Balancing issues, gameplay needs some work, and replayability may become an issue if there's not a lot of variety. Keep in mind this an opinion off of the beta but aside from that they captured the Star Wars vibe perfectly. I was just hoping for a game more akin to the original Battlefront games but this new one is fun to jump in for a little while since it isn't really rage inducing and winning as a Rebel is satisfying.

My only issue really was guys with jetpacks shooting out and grabbing power ups before I could get to them, I'm sure that isn't the intended purpose of the packs but I also don't know how you could remedy that.

Stapleface3872d ago

Solution: use your pack to get there first.

Allsystemgamer3871d ago

And the people who spawn in front of me get there first too so what's your point? Just wait your turn.

I well I don't know maybe the fact the that it won't have a single player campain or that it won't have other playable classes besides imperials and rebels (heros are power ups) or that it has no space battles or that it has been confirmed to have only 8 maps (a fraction of the maps compared to Battlefront 2 which had about 24) or that the gameplay is severely unbalanced as proved in the beta. Did I mention it's a multiplayer online only game with about less than a quarter of the content compared to Battlefront 2 and it's selling for full price? Well at least it got pretty graphics though.

Even if I tried, I couldn't have said it any better

Spot on. I played several matches and left feeling "eh" about it. Over hype for sure. It looks pretty and it's not terrible, but it's a lot like battlefield which I was hoping it would be more like Battlefront 2.

You can choose not to buy it, or to wait until it comes down in price, that is your prerogative.

But you also skipped over the constraints EA/DICE were facing.

They threw this together in a couple of years to coincide with the first movie of the new trilogy. You could argue why they would do that, but that's what they chose. To have it out in 2015, compromises had to be made. It sucks, but we get something now, and more next time.

If it had a full development cycle then you would be spot on. I see this more as a stepping stone to something better, but it's still a great ride while we wait for that something better.

But you also realize your dollars in 2015 don't hold the same value as they did in 2005 right?

When you compare 2015 dollars to 2005 dollars, the purchasing power of $50 in 2005 is roughly equal to ~$129.69 in 2015.

So no, you are getting about the same value, maybe a little less because they aren't asking $129 but $60.

Now of course, competitors are still delivering large $60 games, but those are games that have a full development cycle which Battlefront does not. Still they are competing against games that did, and thus your expectations not being met are wholly valid.

So in comparison you are right, they aren't delivering the same value that is possible when compared to others, but this game is being delivered in 2015, not 2017 which is what it would take to deliver what you and all of us want, and the dollars we are asked to part with for this game are worth a hell of alot less now then in 2005.

There are certainly some bad points. I completely agree about the lack of a campaign, that's annoying. Hard to judge how much content there will actually be though. It's be nice to play the whole game.

Majin-vegeta3872d ago

Unlimited ammo&nades.Are my main gripe.

Gazondaily3872d ago

It seems like it's made for casuals. I feel like its lacking depth. Its pretty but hollow. Mind you, I have had some fun moments. I'll reserve final thoughts for the end product
