More on Tera Patrick and Saint's Row 2

ANALYSIS not news.

If you were marketing this game you could spend, say, £200,000 getting David Hockney to do the box art or you could spend the same money on Tera Patrick being a "Special Producer" and both would get you masses of worldwide publicity. But that publicity would reach different audiences. And which audience would be most likely to buy Saint's Row 2?

I agree. Tera Patrick is a very clever marketing move, and she brings a surprising amount of business and production smarts to boot, beyond the obvious titillation.

As long as they keep the balance, and don't go too tacky, this should work a treat and has got a lot of people talking about Saints Row 2 that previously weren't paying attention.

Enigma_20996421d ago

It's one thing to get a porn actress to voice a porn actress in your game... but this just makes them look desperate.

Superfragilistic6421d ago

And yet look at what we're talking about! :/

Bottom line it's worked and got people talking bout Saints Row 2.

If you looked at Tera Patrick's expertise beyond the bedroom/longueroom/bathroom/ki tchen/gym/outdoors/etc, she's actually a pretty highly accomplished producer (film and games) and businesswoman (film and print media) and has assets well beyond her explicit appeal.

I'm talking about Tera Patrick... and what a desperate move including her in this is...

[[f you looked at Tera Patrick's expertise beyond the bedroom/longueroom/bathroom/ki tchen/gym/outdoors/etc, she's actually a pretty highly accomplished producer (film and games) and businesswoman (film and print media) and has assets well beyond her explicit appeal.]]

Funny you mentioned all that... because I didn't see ANY opf that in the promo video... all I saw was game footage and a pitiful tease of a strip tease...

Superfragilistic6420d ago

"Funny you mentioned all that... because I didn't see ANY opf that in the promo video..."

But you would've if you read the article! ;)

It's a shame such beautiful women couldn't do something better of their lives.

Fishy Fingers6421d ago

What? No body forced her into her chosen profession. She's become world famous, rich and all this from just having sex, something that she obviously enjoys very much.

Shes probably very happy with how things have turned out for her.

Sitdown6421d ago

I really do not think you guys xaphanze's post. It is sort of sad when females or males have to sexually exploit themselves........evolved prostitution. Would you guys be okay if your girlfriends or wives changed their careers to this? Besides, I think so many people underestimate the negative effects of the "industry" she worked/works in.

CViper6421d ago

Freedom of choice to do what you want to do. Its her doing something she likes, to make a living. As long as shes not causing physical harm to anyone, no one should be judging her or anyone else's legal profession.

JsonHenry6421d ago

What is wrong with her using her body to make money? If I could trick people into paying me to see me naked I would do it in a heartbeat!

IdleLeeSiuLung6421d ago

Well it is certainly a God given gift and by that I mean her looks. I personally think it is unfortunate that she uses her looks and sexuality to make money, but hey who am I to complain if people are willing to pay for it.

However, considering how intelligent she is, I'm sure she could have done well without the need for "evolved prostitution". I kind of like that word.

deeznuts6421d ago

Ladies suckin you know what on the streets for crack money is pretty sad. Tera, from what I hear, is a damn successful business woman.

What is a shame is she had to get implants. Her knockers were fantastic before it. But who's going to complain about bigger jubblies???????

Sitdown6420d ago (Edited 6420d ago )

It is not a view point forced on me...but one that I adopted and accept. Again I ask....would you be okay with your wife or girlfriend doing it? What about your mom if her looks would enable her to. In addition I go back to the point that so many people do not understand the ill effects of pornography. Perhaps I am not just speaking out about her, as I really do not know what she does on the sexual front.......but about the industry as a whole. While you can say you admire the female body...point is, you become desensitized and get a jaded few. And by your point........its okay to do what you like doing as long as it does not cause any physical harm to anybody? Hmmm......I guess verbal abuse and verbal sexual harassment by a pedophile is okay in your book.

chrisnick6421d ago

get a porn star to promote ur game...that doesn't look desperate at all.

W S K6421d ago (Edited 6421d ago )

i think that she fits good in the whole "dont take it too serious" style of the game.

Saints Row is full of sarcasm...and that "Tera Patrick is now a Producer" thing is nothing more to me...so...this is (like some of you said) a nice way to get some attention (THAT THIS GAME DESERVES!!!).

Saints Row was a relly entertaining game (but the most people dont gave it a try because they thought its a GTA rip off.....but its not as easy as that...look beneath the surface :D)

No...SERIOUS...Saints Row is more a parody of GTA than a rip off...Freeworld games are selling really well since GTA (i mean: GTA was the first freeworld game if im right....hmmmm...i dont know)
and as you see in the whole business "if something works and sells well" someone will come up with "almost the same product"...thats the way it was and always will be...its called COMPETITION!!! :D

Broken Games That Never Got Fixed

While a lot (like way too many) games launch in sorry states these days, a lot of them do eventually get polished up over time fixes. The same can’t be said for these properly broken games.

Worst for me is wipeout 2048.
I got gold in every single player race, made it extremely far into the great online shop platinum was a finger away.. then lost all my online progression. Many players experienced the same and hadn’t been fixed since

joab777209d ago

Cyberpunk and No Mans Sky are obviously the 2
best comeback stories. Cyberpunk is literally one of the best RPGs ever made now.

Christopher208d ago

I wouldn't call NMS broken at release, just under-delivered.

Michiel1989209d ago

junctioning is only broken now because it's been datamined which monster which gives which card and which card gives which items and every single spell to junction with the highest points for each stat. For it's time when that info wasn't readily available it was good, not without it's flaws, but not broken,

-Foxtrot208d ago

Exactly. I never got this because what made it broken was the knowledge of what to exploit.

Playing the game for the first time back then you never had any knowledge to make it so easy.

One minute the Junction system is complicated, the next it's super easy / broken. What is it?

gold_drake208d ago

i mean, ff8 is not "broken" per se, its just that the junction system is too good and easily exploited even an hour into the game. haha

Ashunderfire86208d ago

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is one of them. I can’t get in the Cantina bar later on in the game. The door and other doors throughout the environment is locked off. It is a shame, because I wanted to complete the game, but I can’t until they fix it.

Ten best games from the 2000s you may have missed

The 2000s was a great decade for a lot of brilliant video games. Here are the ten best games of the 2000s that you may not have played.

You know usually when someone says "you may have missed" it's games that were lesser known, hidden gems, underrated games. These are all super high profile games that sold extremely well.

FPS_D3TH1168d ago (Edited 1168d ago )

You know the 2000s is 20 years ago too? Maybe, just maybe this wasn’t an article targeted to 30+ gamers? Still says at the very beginning of the title “THE BEST GAMES you may have missed”. Regardless of how well they sold there’s tons of gamers who haven’t touched these older well known games lol.

Welshy1168d ago (Edited 1168d ago )

It's games you "may have missed", insinuating you were around and gaming in the 2000's and were there to miss them. If it was aimed at everyone else then they missed literally everything, not just the top games.

The original commenter is right, this is a badly written article at best pointless at worst.

Crows901168d ago

Besides only being able to miss it if you were around during that time..if your point stands then this is a horrible list. Tons of better games people may have missed

XxINFERNUSxX1168d ago

I would like the original max payne remade in a new engine with ray tracing. 😊

FPS_D3TH1168d ago

Remedy games already working on that and I’m so stoked for it

XxINFERNUSxX1168d ago

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me I totally forgot they were doing it. Also what the hell happened to Kingpin: Reloaded? On Steam coming soon and nohting from the dev.

MadLad1168d ago

Yeah, I was just going to say. It's interesting seeing them back behind the series. Max Payne 3 was amazing, but then Rockstar just sat on the IP.
Well, they sit on virtually anything that isn't GTA and Red Dead now.

porkChop1168d ago

What is this list? These are all hugely popular games. I was expecting games like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Advent Rising, Arx Fatalis, etc.

FPS_D3TH1168d ago

the title didn’t say lesser known titles from the 2000s. This is 20 years ago now lol. Big assumption this list was made for older gamers.

Dirty_Lemons1167d ago

That makes me feel so old.

Inverno1168d ago

I've only played 3 on that list. Part of me feels bad about how little I used all the consoles I've owned as a kid. One bright side is, there's over 30 years of games to experience for the first time.
