Xbox 360 System update now available (no new features)

A few minutes ago, the team released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you'll recieve a prompt to accept this mandatory update. This update contains code to 'prepare for future growth of the service.' There are no other changes or enhancements in this update…in other words no new features.

To be clear: This is not the new Xbox experience update. That will come in the Fall.

Takes 2 seconds on the 360. You don't have to download and install them like on the PS3.

DJ6491d ago

They actually fixed that little problem. Now when we download firmware updates for PS3, they automatically install and then reset the system without any manual assistance. No more "Press PS Button over and over for no reason." We also get the option of having the system automatically turn off once the update's done.

Another example of Sony Learns from Microsoft. =]

That doesn't even make any sense, are you talking from a update working behind the scenes perspective? seemingly not doing anything because you can't see what its doing?. XBL has always recieved maintenance or preparation updates, you're just tracking 360 news more than ever now as most PS3 fans are doing the same.

How you are getting agree's when you post is nonsense is beyond me.

dude it is so much faster than the ps3

lol i downloaded it and thought it was, the new dashboard thing.

Snukadaman6491d ago

It was the update for braid..and also with the sweepstakes where you try the demo are are entered into it.....right away though i did think it was the fall update because the whole system updated.....if it was that fall update it would of been sweet.

Masko6491d ago

its still summer. the update is coming in fall. get a brain

spandexxking6491d ago

:( i want to see the real new update

PimpDaddy6491d ago

Patience is a virtue I guess.

marionz6491d ago

c'mon the new dash update would be cool but how could anyone think this was it? its not ready for release yet everybody knows that

foodbox6491d ago

It was clearly announced for Fall.

But the SDF want to build up a false "oh, disappointment" meme for nothing.

See the first post.

The New Xbox Experience (NXE) is going to be epic, new features, new gameplay types (Primetime is the *most* under-discussed element of NXE) and a whole new UI.

I'm very excited for NXE, but I damn well know it wont come until the Fall. Its the beginning of August FFS...

Dont worry, N4G does all it can to spread FUD about MS... nothing changes around here.

JOLLY16491d ago

Man i am glad Microsoft knows how to make operating system updates harmless.

JOLLY16491d ago

Some people aren't happy that Microsoft's updates are so easy and quick. Who wouldn't like fast and efficient updates? Sad stuff!

thereapersson6491d ago

Which in a way, deserves disagrees

Masko6491d ago

if u hate MS OSes so much. dont use Windows. If ur using Windows right now ur being a real hypocrite

The Wood6491d ago

you dont have to love something to use it but i get your point and at the same time you should only criticise something IF you actually use it.

Shane Kim6491d ago

Believe me, if we had a choice we wouldn't be using Windows. The OS's who are available for PC's are even worse than Windows.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde23d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
