Why Is There So Much Hate on Star Wars: Battlefront?

If you’ve been following the news and updates on Star Wars: Battlefront then you are surely no stranger to the fact that there is a lot of negativity surrounding this game. The community seems to be really torn on whether to love it or hate it. While there are some who straddle the fence in the gray zone, most everyone is in one camp or the other. I'm sure it's well made and good but it scales down and is a step backwards of some of the elements in the previous games to the series that WERE MADE A DECADE AGO!

gangsta_red3876d ago

I'm sure those modes will return in the future whether it's through DLC or updates to the game.

The game is bigger with a lot more added to it so I'm sure for the sake of development not everything could be put in this game.

Also add in the possibility (more than a possibility actually) that DICE/EA needed to get this out before the movie and then you can also start to see why it may be lacking than the past Battlefront games.

Simco8763876d ago

This is the truth. Getting it out before the movie was key.

So yea lets overpay for dlc that should be in the game but wont be because it needs to be out before the movie. Yea no, also the game is very repetitive, after about 4 hours of playing im bored with the game. The only thing I like about it is the Survival mode, even then its only 5 or 10 guys each wave that are so easy to beat. Game is worth $30.

Im playing the beta right now, just dosen't seem to be as good as the old ones. Miss tons of bots and AI running around me too....

Gozer3876d ago

Agreed, it will only get better. The new film is very likely the cause of the somewhat skinny amount of content.

Personally, my only real gripe is currently there is no "bigger picture" for what is offered. A refined and inventive Galactic Conquest could bring all these different game modes together to put a cohesive "big picture" to participation in these game modes. I would be overjoyed to see GC added via dlc, or in a sequel.

A lot more added to it? Like what? There's LESS in the game than the second.

But I think we can all agree the graphics have improved greatly which is probably why there is some sacrifice to content.

evilbart3876d ago

Wasn't sure about this but just played the beta on ps4 and am loving it, so much fun and beautifull graphics day one buy for me anyway

equal_youth3876d ago

I had my doubts but the beta surprised me in many ways. Sure it could be better if it had some of the mechanics from he older games but for what it is, i find it pretty awesome.

Any doubts I had about gameplay have disspiated. Amazingly fast matchmaking and amazing visuals and amazing gameplay. All that concerns me now is the content. For a full price multiplayer game, there ain't a fat lot.

aviator1893876d ago

This is primarily my concern as well.
I'm just not sure if I want to spend so much money on an mp game.
Should have had single player, tbh.

equal_youth3876d ago

Same for me but i hope many friends of mine will jump on so that it eventually pays out over time. I hope EA considers another single player entry for SWTOR. The Time would be right.

PizzaSteve3876d ago

I want to play a good story mode. Is that too much to ask.

WellyUK3875d ago

Just wait for the SP game that's coming and quit bitching on a MP focused game which was never aimed at you in the first place.

PizzaSteve3875d ago

Don't even come at me like that. You don't know me. I like MP too but a game like this needs a story mode. It's Stars Wars for crying out loud.
