Rainbow Six: Siege is both great and terrible

Having played the beta for quite a while now, Brutal Gamer came out of it definitely amused, but we can’t shake the feeling that, if certain aspects aren’t addressed, Tom Clancy’s team of secret operatives may turn out to be the stars of 2015’s biggest disaster since Arkham Knight’s PC port.

Aside from the beta (which i have not played but plenty of friends did), i think the concept is really fun and look good..My issue with what this game offers as a whole complete package is that for $60.00 its really not worth it. No campaign is a utter shame and for that price point its a bit of over kill. $29.99-39.99 would of been a sweet spot.. What going on now a days they release trilogies with no MP (Yeah im talking to you Naughty Dog) or they release games with MP and no campaign.. Either way ill pick it up used in a few months from now when i can get it for $20ish.

It's also just not a rainbow six game. It has nothing to do with it at all. It's just a cheap counter strike rip off with destruction and the R6 name slapped on there to move units.
My he game CAN be fun but it feels rushed.

Edit*

Whoever is phantom disagreeing has clearly never played a rainbow 6 game or read the book.

I'd agree that it's not really a Rainbow 6 game, having played them all. That being said, I disagree on it being a cheap Counter Strike ripoff. It's clearly inspired by it, but it also has its own flavor and has a lot more depth than CS in terms of environment, sound design, and gameplay.

But yeah. It shouldn't be a R6 game.

Im not in the least bit sure how you could even remotely think this game plays anything like counter strike. This is the closest thing to a true rainbow six feeling I've gotten since R6:3.

Nuuevum had it for $42 so I picked it up. Not sure what platform you're on, but it's a Brazilian Gaming site that gives crazy deals on top of an already mad currency conversion,

Is it greatly terrible or terribly great?!

Joystickero3877d ago

I'd say it's more on the terribly great side, but we'll just have to wait and see!

If they don't fix the matchmaking before the open beta, and balance out the characters, I don't think I'll buy it at launch. It's very fun to play, and the sound design is excellent, but goddamn, the matchmaking is pretty awful. It's a multiplayer-only game. Matchmaking is sort of important. $60 is pretty heavy as well... and that's before the season pass.

I enjoyed playing it when I could find a match. But some characters are just SUPER OP. Such a shame. Great concept... but it's being held back by so many flaws.

Swiggins3878d ago

Characters OP? Nonsense, just because Fuze has cluster bombs...and a shield...and one of the best assault rifles in the game....and one of the best pistols....and breaching charges...and heavy armor....that doesn't make him OP...

Joystickero3877d ago

Yeah, Fuze is an incredibly OP guy, but there are also some examples of truly awful characters (lookin' at you, Pulse and IQ)

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
