Square Enix 'forced' to drop ridiculous Deus Ex pre-order program

MWEB GameZone writes: It seems gamers have become cautious of pre-ordering games, who can blame them with so many broken game releases, and over-hyped game culture? So for Square Enix to complicate the pre-order process with "tiers of pre-order bonuses" was not a smart move.

On the other hand, at least Square Enix tried to do something new, and the "Augment your pre-order" initiative fitted right in with their #CantKillProgress campaign - at least it did in their minds.

I don't preorder anymore. I wait for reviews.
If there are no review, I don't buy 99% of the time

Sillicur3889d ago

The only thing im pre-ordering is Fallout 4 :)

Ristul3889d ago

I preordered Nathan Drake Collection, some games just feel safe :)

with the availability of digital buying there really is no need to pre-order anymore unless you want a collectors edition of something. or if you get some bonus items.

SmielmaN3889d ago

I disagree completely. If you have methods of payment for Amazon then you preorder your games during e3 when you can get them for 20-30% off with lowest price protection. I preorder 10+ games every E3 and get day 1 games for $45-50.

So you like to pay $70+ for new games that are digital only.... Seems smart *rolls eyes*

@SmielmaN

i've never paid $70 for a digital game. what i meant was if the game is sold out you can find it in digital form if you can't wait for new copies to arrive. you also get plenty of sales on games after they come out but if you can find good deals by pre-ordering that's good too.

Pre-ordering a game is pretty much a must for me. Games on stores here where i live are 69.90e usually. Put if i pre-order games abroad i can get them 10-20e cheaper. Good example was Arkham Knight that i pre-ordered as low as 52e. So every fourth game is free for me in a way, just because i pre-order.
That don't mean i pre-order them carelessly. I make the decision based on trailers, gameplay vids and in some cases who's developing it. I don't get why people want other peoples opinions about the game before they buy it, unless if they want to check feedback about bugs etc.

Arkham knight is like 22$ w/ the season pass on pc from cdkeysdotcom. It's still broken as fuck and not on the steam store yet, but its supposedly being fixed this month.

Sillicur3889d ago

Good move from them dropping it!

SonZeRo3889d ago

Was a silly scheme anyways.

SunnyZ3889d ago

You misspelled scam.

Was a silly scam anyways.

I think they need to do a bit of price adjusting on the Collector's Edition, too. Wayyyy too much for what we are getting :/

Even Just Cause 3's C.E is a bit better (in terms of what's given/price).
