Square Enix Cancels Controversial Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Pre-Order Program

Square Enix writes:
We’ve been listening to everything you’ve had to say about the Augment Your Pre-Order program. When it was first conceived, we wanted the program to give you more choice about what you received in terms of pre-order incentives – because we’ve seen in the past that when we choose those packages ourselves, and split them across regions, it causes frustration. We quickly noted that this approach created even more frustration than before, resulting in a resounding amount of negative feedback.

If this is true then thanks to all those who made their voices heard. Hopefully this will discourage other companies from copying this ridiculous idea.

A2X_3884d ago

Indeed. Now I hope they'll also cancel Hitman's idiotic release plan.

Wenapee3884d ago

Yes I agree, its like we dont have time and money to release the full game in time, so here is half of the game. But the rest of the game will be released for free in the next coming months.

Well this is not new but they make it clear in advance as apposed to some others like evolve, but then still got the guts to ask for money for additional content.

Razputin3884d ago

Careful, you might get your account closed saying things like that.

I don't understand how people, with money or not, can even praise or consider DLC schemes anymore.

People have the right to complain about DLC, games are 6-8 hours long, DLC that is obviously ripped out of the game and made with almost no effort and released day one. It has gotten ridiculous, and thank god us as consumers, and gamers are responding and being heard.

DARK WITNESS3884d ago

ya, very stupid of them to think we would go for this crap... but props for recognising the issue and cancelling it.

Double_O_Revan3884d ago

Good for them. If they would've put out a Vote for the bonus content we received, that would've been one thing. But it was based on preorder numbers, and even then you couldn't get all the content because you had to choose at each level. So no matter what you did, other than ordering multiple copies, you couldn't get a complete game.

Harryseveruspotter3884d ago

I dont think its true buddy...!!!!

Pintheshadows3884d ago

It is. It comes from the official Deus Ex Twitter account and link to the official Deus Ex website.

Harryseveruspotter3884d ago

Thnkzzz buddy for telling me.....

Hoffmann3884d ago

Well, just release a complete game for everyone. Problem solved.

FrostedFire3884d ago

Yes,ohhhhhh yes.I thought this was going to be a success and all games would follow suit with "Deus Ex Contend Divided".

deadpoolio3163884d ago

WTF are you even talking about....Did any of the geniuses that cried about this even bother to go look at the stupid promotion....

I mean clearly not, otherwise there wouldn't have been click bait uninformed idiotic articles about it...There was ONE DLC outfit, ONE DLC mission and the rest of the tiers were a digital comic, a digital novella, the soundtrack and the game releasing 4 days early...

Yeah Content divided my ass....The majority of it was junk that only the super Dues Ex fanboy would have wanted...

FrostedFire3884d ago (Edited 3884d ago )

You don't get it do you? That's how DLC started out mate, little things here and there and eventually when the publishers realized that they could bend us over a table and give it to us and that no matter how anti consumer it was we would still take it like some cheap bar skank. This is the exact same thing people said when DLC was still young and now look where we are,we have day one DLC(or day zero)pre order DLC,specific outlet exclusive DLC(which are not present in all countries),Premium edition,
etc.
