Soma Review | PressA2Join

Soma is a survival horror title developed by Frictional Games that submerges you inside of a devastated underwater research facility called PATHOS-2. The facility and your reason for being there are shrouded in a mystery that unravels with your progression. on a scale of 10. what's the level of scary?

DigitalRaptor3898d ago (Edited 3898d ago )

I'm not good at rating fear on a scale. It's not as scary as Amnesia, but certainly the atmosphere, the world-building and psychological horror makes for a very chilling experience. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay can be extremely tense. It's just that the things that the game's story and themes imprints in your mind and makes you think about, is probably the scariest part of the game, and I love it for that. It's a real thinking man's horror game.

Cool, thank you. I'm trying to find out what I'm about to jump into lol.

SOMA, a Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "I wanted to keep this retro rewind brief as SOMA is something better experienced when you know very little about it. It might not be the best walking simulator I’ve ever played, but I was floored by its amazing story and premise. Jump into it with an open mind and little to no knowledge about. After a good eight hours, the story will be over, but that’s when you’re going to start philosophizing about its topics and themes. It might not be a brilliant game per se, but I also don’t think it would have been as effective as it was in any other medium. Give it a go, it’s totally worth your time, even after a decade."

I hated the actual game but loved the story, even 10 years later that ending still sticks with me and makes me think what is life and what is living.

I love games that have a story stick with me.

Me too, great story, but I did not enjoy that gameplay, really wish the gameplay had been better.

I’m not into run away and/or hide type games generally if not done very well either
