master race guys in action ...
just enjoy the game and STFU

Bimkoblerutso3900d ago

It's pathetic. It has nothing to do with any kind of "master race" BS. It has to do with ruining the original art style.

HammadTheBeast3900d ago

How is it "master race" if it looks like trash? Even the PSP version of FF1 had better sprites and much better environments.

trywizardo3900d ago

PC gamers always look at graphics and forget about gameplay
its a classic game with new art style , if you don't like it play the original with emulators but don't bitch about it ...

xtremexx3900d ago

Lol its not like Console players ever bitch about graphics at all. Stop your generalising, you sound like a child.

mixelon3900d ago

People complained when they used similarly shitty graphics in the mobile FFs.

They are terrible at uprezzing. Unfathomably so.

eddvdm3900d ago (Edited 3900d ago )

"PC gamers always look at graphics and forget about gameplay", sure thing.

A quick look at top 100 most played at https://steamdb.info/graph/ we can see, only AAA graphics there.

Oh wait, there's another +20k games on Steam, only there because of graphics.

Good thing that PS4 (~700), XB1 (~450), PS3 (~1000), X360 (~1100) games honor gameplay, where we would be..

Pintheshadows3900d ago (Edited 3900d ago )

You know trywizardo, I kind of see where you are coming from, however, in this instance these guys definitely have a point.

It is rather ugly. The sprites are downright odd when compared to the environment. The original version has far more charm and consistency to it. In this case, they prefer the original vision. That would be the opposite of being a so called 'graphics whore' would it not?

However, that is besides the point as this isn't really about graphics. It is about something which I have always thought is more important, Art style. And the art style added so much charm and character to this game. What they have done here is strip that vision and charm away.

This is the equivalent of someone remaking Okami and utterly ruining the visual flair it had.

The more I compare, the more I realise that there is almost no depth to this redone version when compared with the original.

Master race? Please. Pixel graphics artist's/fans are incredibly critical of work such as this. Pixel are is a very respected art style that is absolutely gorgeous when time and effort is put into it. I personally want pokemon to return to the pixel art style, just with updated/detailed sprites.

BrandanT3900d ago

He does have a point. You shouldn't see the seems between the tiles!

SynGamer3900d ago

Personally, I like the new look. It cleans up the game a bit which is always good for our more modern monitors and touchscreens.

Haters are going to hate...

alabtrosMyster3900d ago

They made an horrible job of porting the game's original graphics to an higher resolution version of what they were (it would have been best if they'd have redrawn all areas without using tiles, just represent what they tried to draw with limited resources back then)

I mean, the rock should look like a meteorite, the grass should look like grass and the threes on top of it should not look like they are "darker grass"... as of now this port of an olf Final Fantasy game looks like a low effort/budget attempt at a classic RPG, hopefully this is a fluke...

Just play FFV on an emulator with a language patch, this version is a disgrace to the original.

Eewww... This graphics make my eyes bleed. Whats the bet they're gonna sell this POS for $46...AT LEAST.

JohnathanACE3901d ago (Edited 3901d ago )

You can get Final Fantasy V and VI on the PS1 for $10.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/pr...

It would be ridiculous if they sell it for any price higher than that.

eyeDEVOUR3901d ago

All ff games are like $15.99 on Android so..pricey

alabtrosMyster3900d ago

You, you have to wait for them to be on sale if you want to get them legally on Android/iOS... and they don't even support bluetooth controllers :-/

Hoffmann3900d ago (Edited 3900d ago )

I played Final Fantasy V on Steam and now I have all kinds of cancers everywhere starting with my toes and up to the most important part of my body.

This is the worst time in my life and I hope the suffering is ending soon.

Ristul3900d ago

They butchered the original, guess pixel artist are a rare breed nowadays.

Pintheshadows3900d ago

Yeah, and this is where most of the issues here stem from. They have managed to make something charming into something rather sparse and clean.

JevonDee3900d ago

I'll wait for someone to mod it. I wouldn't play this version even if it was free.

HammadTheBeast3900d ago

Can't you just use an emulator right now?

JevonDee3900d ago

Its not about emulating the original. I don't think anyone is against playing the game with added content and updated graphics. Just not when it looks like an rpgmaker game.
