Yup - if only they could sort out the proper licensing too, it would be perfect.

FIFA will still sell fine though. There are hardcore fans and those that buy it each year on autopilot.

And the Master league
And the transfer system
And the lack of computer controlled fouls
And the embarrassingly cringeworthy commentary
And the overall p155 poor presentation
And player animations(players still move like robots on speed)
Lack of leagues and teams around the world

Those are the many reasons why PES will never beat or be as popular as FIFA.

Having played both demos,i'am sticking with FIFA again, it has come on leaps and bounds this year.

Search the Web, very easy to import kits badges etc, I've done it. It does play a fantastic game of footy

My personal opinion, based on both of the demos that I played, I like the feel of FIFA better. I don't know if it's the pace or what it is, but it just feel less "artificial" than PES.

Again, just my opinion.

That's weird , completely the opposite for me. It's the subtle things in Pes, like how a team gets more defensive if they are leading.
FIFA is OK but I just can't relate to the way it plays and the players are still anatomicaly incorrect.

I've played both and Pes wins hands down for me.

Yeah, I think that FIFA feels like a video game while PES is more like a football simulation. To me, FIFA was not enjoyable for at least 4 years now.

I'm actually surprised you feel FIFA is less artificial than PES. In my opinion PES feels much more authentic and closer to a real game than FIFA which has gotten too arcadey and pacey with its recent iterations. What's most off putting is the fact that I feel like the game is "scripted" and many matches are out of my control despite my skill level vs the opponents. That being said I do understand the appeal of FIFA and think its presentation is superior to PES which sadly puts people off due to lack of licenses and such. I'm hoping this new FIFA is fun so there's two quality football games to play.

Fifa 16 has actually improved the franchise for the first time in a long time.
I feel like fifa 12 - 15 more or less played the same with improved graphics.
Fifa 16 finally plays like a more balanced, realistic game.
Im happy about that bc this was EA's last chance before i switched to pes.

Im glad this game is getting good reviews beecause competition is good and god only knows that EA could use some Fifa competition.

EA have been slacking with Fifa for far too long.

I played both demo and Fifa seemed to me way better .But maybe the full game is another story.

If you just didn't like the PES demo I doubt you'd change your mind on the final game ALTHOUGH I will say that the actual game IS in fact better than the demo. I can't put my finger on it yet but everything is smoother and more polished and the games I played with friends were absolutely thrilling and exciting! More so than the demo.

Please forgive me in advance for talking about an issue I have with critics, tangentially related to this article and this game... Don't hate me for my opinion, please!

I'm sure this game is amazing if you want to play a soccer game, but I think this review brings up feelings in me that point to the hypocrisy and problem with the way professional critics review games.

A 9.5 is the score that I've been led to believe is given out to games that have a universal quality & appeal and that are so excellent that even if you don't normally care for the style or genre, you very well ought to give it a try anyway.

I'm sorry, but that rationale never seems to be used when reviewing sports games. I'm sure this is a top-notch soccer game, but I have no interest in playing it. These critics use that same judgment to down-score all sorts of other games. Because the "interactive movie" genre is considered niche by many critics, they will give games like Until Dawn, which are the absolute pinnacle of their genre, a relatively lower score than they would a top-notch game like this one, because they'll claim that while it's perfect for fans of the genre, if you aren't into interactive movies you won't like it. Well, um, no duh? You could say the same thing about just about any game, there are people who just aren't interested in some genres, but only certain styles of game get hit with that critical hammer.

Just pontificating here, that's all. Sorry about that! I'm totally open to discussion on this if someone reads this comment & wants to tell me where I'm wrong, please let me know, because I'd love to be enlightened on how to better understand where critics are coming from. I don't think I'm off point, but of course that's because they're my thoughts, haha, maybe I'm wrong and someone can point me in the right direction.

Neither game has innovated anywhere near enough as far as I'm concerned. Fifa still has the AI problems that make playing the computer a snoozefest and I've never been into PES in any meaningful way.
